The original family sat in klaus' living room getting ready for the coming back ball. The second youngest and most reckless of them all kol stood in front of the mirror looking at himself, "Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am."

Rebekah, looking at her freshly pained nails said, "ah, kol, you know I can't be compelled." The eldest brother, Finn smiled at his little sisters remark.

Entering the house angrily klaus walked over to his sister yelling, "you went after elena? What is wrong with you?"

"Here we go," rebekah mumbled knowing exactly what was going to happen. Last night she went after the doppelgänger in question for literally stabbing her in the back.

Elena would've been dead to if Elijah wouldn't have saved her. Klaus furiously asked her, "do you want another dagger in your heart?"

Stepping off the platform kol taunted his brother,"again with the dagger threats? Don't you have any other tricks?"

"Oh, go back at staring at yourself," klaus big back looking rather rudely at his little brother.

Not backing off kol argued, "and who are you, my father?"

"No, kol, but you're in my house," klaus replied trying to put his brother back in his place.

Kol stepped closer to his brother confrontationally, "then perhaps we should go outside."

Walking into the room seeing her sons fighting Esther yelled at the two brothers, "enough! Niklaus, come" klaus sent his brother one last look before he rejoined her and they went in another room.

Still furious with his sister klaus ranted to his mother, "Rebekah wasn't even out of her box a day before she tried ruining my life. What happened to peace, acceptance, family?"

"You put daggers in their hearts. You want them to go down on their knees and kiss your feet for reuniting them," she put it simply.

Esther had a fair point, there was no way he'd be forgiven in a few days. Klaus looked at his mother questioningly, "so it's a crime to want your family to be as we were?"

With a sad look on her face Esther said to her son, "you need to give it time. Niklaus. I've had a thousand years on the other side to be angry and to heal. I'm here to make sure this family does the same."

Still harbouring guilt over what he did to his mother he said, "I just don't understand. I killed you, and still you forgive me."

Honestly Esther said, "it's been my dream for a thousand years that this family could be as one. Forgiveness is not a chore. It's a gift. Now, who are you bringing to the ball this evening?"

Not being able to help it klaus smiled thinking of Caroline, "don't be ridiculous. You're lucky I'm even going."

"Really," she asked surprised by her sons answer, "the other night I heard you brother mention a girl named Caroline, I believer it was. I wish you'd reconsider. It's going to be a magical evening." His mother went to walk out.

Caitlin POV
I sat on my sofa here watching random crap on telly.

After the dinner at klaus' I  hadn't gone out of my house. I hadn't seen my friends nor the Mikaelsons, and at the moment i didn't really feel like seeing anyone.

I was just so confused, what did kol mean by "I'll see you around, darling"

While I was sitting there thinking someone knocked on the front door. I pressed my brows together confused for a moment before i went to the door opening it but nobody was there.
