I didn't visit my dorm until half past seven in the evening. The room's light was off, and there was Brooklyn on his bed watching, judging by the sound of bemoaning woman, some R-rated movie in his laptop.

I wanted to get out as soon as I threw the bag on my bed, but Brooklyn stopped me. "Hey, you wait there!"

I froze on my track praying to god for my life.

He paused the video, and moved toward me in silence. In the faint light pouring out from his laptop screen, his body frame looked menacing and eyes were still sparkling with fury. I gritted my teeth to stop trembling when his foul breathe touched my ear. He seemed to enjoy the fear emanating from me.

"Whatever you plan to do with me, do it fast," I managed to speak finally.

He laughed a soft laugh and said, "You're lucky I'm not in the violence mood at this precise moment. But don't you dare ever report me to the principal again. Bear this in mind: I'm capable of doing anything to a person."

He patted me on my back, which I took as a sign declaring this meeting was over. But his voice kept replaying in my head ("I'm capable of doing anything to a person") over and over again as I moved through the long corridor, down the staircases and -

"Here you are," David said, meeting me on the ground floor. "I've been looking for you."

"For what, David?" I resumed walking.

"I've first version of Bram Stoker's Dracula movie. Will you watch it with me in my dorm?"

"I can't do that now, David. I've to go to the party with Lovina."

He put a hand on my shoulder, stopping me. We had just reached outside the building: the sky was empty of stars and the moon tonight, but the lights from the windows of all four buildings were keeping half of vast ground visible: a few people were wandering around for a breath of fresh air.

"You aren't going to Avalanna's party, are you?"

"That's where I'm going."

"She invited you?" His voice was mixture of contempt and surprise.

"No. Now, if you could excuse me." I crossed the ground toward the parking lot, where Lovina would be waiting for me as she had told me.

"Remember the news I showed you today!" David shouted behind me. "Stay alert buddy!..."

David's voice died away as I reached the parking lot. It was lighted with single lamp post that rose high against the dark sky in the middle. I noticed Lovina standing against the yellow cab in shiny couture dress that girls usually wear only when hitting the club.

"Hi," She waved at me.

"Hi," I greeted her back. "You're looking stunning."

"Thanks, but someone more stunning is sitting inside the car."

"You mean the driver?"

"Haha, no. You remember what I told you this afternoon?"

"You told me many things today."

She grabbed my hand, pulled me ten steps away from the cab and hissed, "You be nice with my roommate, okay. She is in the car."

"Are you trying to hook me up with her?"

"Shhh. You read my mind."

"Oh god!"

"Just don't be nervous, okay? She's pretty. Don't forget to compliment her every five minutes." She dragged me back to the car. "Smile, Casper, smile." She sat in the front seat leaving me no option but to squash my ass on the back.
