"That's too cheesy. 'Di ko kailanman naisip na masasabi mo 'yon," natatawang komento ng babae. Ngumiwi naman bilang sagot si Gio.
"Didn't expect myself to say that thing either."
That night, they spent it in silence. Absorbing the atmosphere and calmness of it. Beyond those, starry night and serene waves of the river, their hearts are full of happiness and contentment.
"So.. See you tomorrow?" Nakangiting tanong ni Gio habang nakalagay sa bulsa ang dalawang kamay.
"Not sure. But I'll try.."
Gio's face darkened. He remembered exactly that she said the same thing when he asked if she'll be able to come at her brother's funeral. But she didn't.
"It's okay.." Mariing pumikit si Gio. Napansin agad ng babae ito.
"May.. problema ba?" Nag-aalinlangan niyang tanong. Pagmulat ng mata ni Gio ay nakadirekta agad iyon sa kaniya na ikinatalon niya nang bahagya. "B-Bakit?"
He sighed and shook his head. He licked his lips before giving her a small smile.
"Nothing.."
Tumango ang babae bago tumalikod. Ang tahimik at payapang atmospera kanina ay napalitan ng pagkailang.
Facing each other's backs, Gio started to walk slowly. Habang ang babae ay nanatiling nakatayo roon na parang nagdadalawang-isip pa umalis.
"Gio.." mahina niyang tawag dito bago humarap. Nakita niyang agad na tumigil ito at hinarap din siya.
Nasa dalawang metro na ang layo nila at nanatili lang sila sa ganoong ayos. Ngumiti ang babae na ipinagtakha ni Gio. Ang akala nito ay magpapaalam lang ngunit nagulat siya sa sinabi nito.
"I trust you when you said that you'll handle me with care. I really hope you could last long with me.." Sabi nito habang nakayuko at nilalaro ang mga daliri.
"Then does that mean.." May halong pag-asa at kaunting kasiyahan sa boses ni Gio.
