Flip the rusty pages of old journals
and diaries.
Sniff the life of them,
in my soul.
A parting gift from
the faded memories
of a life lived.Write a handwritten letter to
the beloved,one last time
stringing the words together
in an ode.
Read my favourite book, tracing my fingers along the letters,
embracing them before bidding them
a farewell.Cook a wholesome meal and
savour it before the
dusk dawns and
along with it
the termination of a life.Feel the touch of warm sunshine
on my skin,before
transcending into the
looming darkness that awaits.
Scrutinize souvenirs
from every place visited,
soaking in the beauty,
a memory of a lifetime.Play that one song,
emanating the warmth
of a youthful radiance.
Sit by the windowpane,
contemplating not the end,
but the ethereal worldliness.Take a placid nap,
bidding adieu to the ephemeral
ties and material possessions.
Eventually,
embrace death,
leaving behind everything but gratitude.
