13. Never betray our proud countryAfter Everest gave 15 dollars to Weatherford, Fleck and Strike went on with their bet. They both walked out into the 2nd training room while Majeeck setted up the system from the control module. "Stųpid trainiñg..... earły in ţhe mořniņg..... toø earlý....." and so forth. Majeeck had always had trouble sleeping. He suffered from a bad case of insomia since he was 12. And getting up at 4 in the morning for the past 8 weeks didn't really help. He tried putting his mind to sleep only to see if that did anything, but all it did was make a headache. Everest walked over and took a peek at what he was doing.
"Ya seem mad about somethin', Maj." She commented.
Then Weatherford showed up on the other side of the blonde. He took a quick look and said, "Thorn's setting are wrong."
"Ño iţ i§n't. Țhis īs whåt thəy weře when Thörn đid iţ. Ýou jüst řemeberěd it wroņg." Majeeck's voice warbled with slight irritation in his voice. His fingers continued pressing buttons and switches without hesitation.
"Hey, I'm just trying to help. We know the super sibs are gonna wanna have everything right down to the last detail. Otherwise they'll have to redo the bet again." He said.
Majeeck turned towards him. "Yeąh I knőw. Aņd it wilł bę wheň yõu baçk the heľl őff!"
The redhead put his hands up like as if he got caught with something. "Yeesh somebody's crabby today. Did something happen the last few days?" Weatherford mocked in a baby voice. "Did a powew twick go wrong? Or was it-"
"Ford. Shut the fuck up, man." Everest said in a chill tone. "If I had to choose between you and him when it comes to remembering, I'd go with the guy who can still remember what the square root of PI is."
He only shrugged. "Fine, don't say I didn't try to help." Then he walked away muttering words like 'freak' and 'grouchy'.
The dark colored girl put her hand on his shoulder. "So, what's the matter? Didn't get enough sleep last night?" She asked.
Majeeck didn't say anything. He just pressed 'start' and walked over to one of the chairs to sit while facing the window so he could watch. Everest followed grabing a chair of her own and sat on it backwards like one of those teachers who think that they're cool even though they aren't. But when Everest did it, it did seem cool and natural. Usually when it came to people, she could read them like a book. But when it came to her companian, all she drew was a blank. Maybe it was because his hair always covered his eyes, or it was just something that he can do. She wasn't for sure. So all she can do is ask and try to help.
"Nö. Anđ appārenţly I'm 'ņeedëd' todáy." He muttered as he crossed his arms.
"Maybe you should try asking if your prescription could get increased." She suggested.
"Urg, I kņow. I aßked Ďr. O'Neaļ when he çame bý, bųt all Į göt was â 'We'll seə'."
"Then I guess we'll see then, huh?"
"Yeåh, I gue§s we wiľl. Who dõ yőu thiņk will wīn?" He said.
She leaned back a little. "I'm not for sure. They practically have the same strength and powers. Fleck is faster due to her size and weight but she didn't bring her knives with her, and Strike is the victor when it comes shooting. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Strike."
