The Tragedy

Matrix is driving through the streets of New York, when he notices a car, abandoned on the side of the road. Matrix turns on his sirens and lights, and he pulls to a stop behind the car. Matrix gets out of his car, and he draws his gun, and he carefully walks up to the driver side door. Matrix looks into the car, and he sees what looks like a body.

Matrix: Crap.
Matrix pulls out his cell-phone, and he dials his partners number. It's picked up on the fourth ring. Matrix turns his back to the car.
Voice: Brea.

Matrix: Aya, it's me.

Aya: Matrix, where are you, you're late?

Matrix: I'm on the corner of 5th and Lex, I found a car abandoned on the side of the road, there's a body in it.

Aya: Crap, I'm on my way Matrix.

Matrix: I'll wait here for....
Matrix hears a loud bang, and feels a jolt as a bullet hits him in the back, and the cell-phone flies across the street.

Aya: Matrix?! Are you there?! We're on our way!
Matrix falls forward, and he hits the street. He hears the car start up, and then it starts to drive away. Matrix rolls over, and he aims his gun, and he fires 3 shots, one hitting the car's back window, shattering it, another hitting the license plate, and the last hitting the trunk. Another shot is fired out of the driver side window, hitting Matrix in the chest, and Matrix's gun goes sliding across the street where his cell-phone is lying. Matrix hears sirens a few minutes later, and he sees Aya's car screeching to a stop, along with two cop cars, with all their lights flashing. Aya gets out of her car, and she runs over to Matrix, and she presses her hand against Matrix's wound, trying to stop the blood from flowing, and blood begins running over her fingers.

Aya: An ambulance is on the way Matrix, just hold on.
Matrix shakes his head.

Matrix: It's too late Aya, I was hit pretty bad, not gonna make it this time.

Aya: (Tears sliding down cheeks) Yes, you will, don't say that!
Matrix coughs and he begins hacking hard.

Aya: Please Matrix, I love you, you need to pull through.
Matrix stops coughing, and Aya can see he's growing weaker from blood loss.

Matrix: I love you too Aya, I really wish I had told you sooner, but I won't make it, I'm sorry.
Aya hugs Matrix, and he hugs her back as best he can. Aya can feel Matrix beginning to grow limp.

Aya: (Sobbing) Goodbye, I love you.

Matrix: (Weakly whispering) Love you too, goodbye Aya.
Matrix's last breath leaves his body, and he grows still and limp, leaving Aya sobbing on the side of the street, police lights flashing. Thunder claps in the sky, and the heavens open up, and it begins to rain.
