Music of my Heart - Chapter 2

"Katie are you okay?" Belle looks worried. She is my best friend. I can say she is more of a friend to me. Among our friends she really knew me too much. I think she is the sister I never had.

"I will be fine. Maybe not today but I'll try my best." Giving her assurance that she don't have to worry.

"Okay. Don't worry we're here for you."

"Belle, please don't tell them about this. I don't want them to feel sad for me." I asked her a favor because I know they will start interrogating me.

"Hey guys!" I tried to be cheerful. We saw our friends inside the cafeteria.

"Hey Katie, Belle." They greet us in chorus.

"Katie, we heard there will be an audition for the talent show. I think you better give it a try this time." Mandy who looks more excited.

"I don't think that is a good idea. You know I have stage freight and I'm not that confident."

Coward you may call but I can't imagine myself singing in front of many people.

"You have a good voice and you can play guitar Katie. This is your chance to fight your fears and also graduation is almost near why not do something new." Chris, one of my guy friend and also boyfriend of my best friend told me.

"We believe in your talent and you should believe in yourself also, Katie." Colin told me. I saw he blush.

"Thanks guys. I'll think about it. When is the audition?" I'm not so sure if this is a good idea but maybe I can use this as a distraction.

"It's on Thursday at around 2pm. Better bring your guitar. We will watch you." Mandy replied. Now I'm more nervous. They are expecting too much from me. I can't let them down. They are right. I need to do something new for myself.

"Okay. I think I'll give it a try. Don't expect too much guys. By the way I need to look for Troy." All eyes on me except Belle. I felt my face redden because they knew that I have a huge crush on him.

"Why?" They asked me in chorus.

"Why do you have to talk to him Katie?" Colin asked me. Not directly looking at me and you can feel that he's hurting.

*Flashback*

"Katie, can we talk?" Colin texted me.

"Sure. Did something happen? Is there a problem?" I replied to him. I can feel even in his text that there is something bothering him.

"No, there is no problem and nothing happened. I just really need to talk to you. Can we meet at the park near your house? I'll wait you here."

Looks like very important because he is already there.

"Okay. Wait me there.". I wear my hoodie and my black pants and tied my hair into a bun.

It's just 5mins before you get there so I just decided to walk.

"Hey, there you are."

I tried to surprise him but looks like I'm the one who is suprised. He grab my wrist and pulled it closer to him. He hugged me like he hadn't see me since like forever.

"Colin, are you alright?" I asked him while trying to release myself from his very tight hug.

"Katie please stay like this. Even just for a minute." I felt his lips kissed my hair. And his heart, it beats so fast.

"Please tell me what is bothering you?" Then he let me go from his tight embrace.

"I know this is not the right time for me to say this. You are still coping from what happened to your mother. But I want to be the one beside you, wipe your tears and help you get through this." I can see in his eyes the love, care, and longing while saying those words.

"What do you mean Colin? Of course I know you'll be here for me because you are my friend."

"I love you, Katie."

I didn't expect him to say those words. He knew all the time the only person that I love. How can I answer him without hurting his feelings?

"The first time we met I know there is something special about you then we became friends and get to know the real you. I know you love someone but I just want you to know that I'm willing to wait for you Katie." I know he's hurting right now. His voice cracked while saying this to me.

"I'm sorry, Colin. I appreciate your effort of telling me how you feel. But you knew ever since i'm in love with someone. I hope even I said I can't love you the way you love me doesn't mean we can't still be friends. I hope you understand."

He tried to hold his tears I can see it. "Of course. But please remember I'm willing to wait until you give me a chance to prove that."

He move closer again this time he hugged me more careful not too tight. I can feel that his heart beating calmly.

*end of flashback*

"He is her partner in our project." Belle responded.

Before Colin even say a word I already bid goodbye to them."Yeah, I better go now guys. See you later." I don't want to see him sad.

It took me a month to update because there's a lot of idea in my mind. Yeah I know you might think that's slow but hey! Newbie here. Hehe. But anyway thank you for trying to read my story.
