*AT MY PARENT'S HOUSE*
*BEEP* *BEEP*
Ughhhh! There's my alarm again. I check my phone as its Monday. Which means.....school. I hate school so much! Not because of the learning , but because of the people in it. I get bullied constantly for no reason.
I don't know if its the way i look, the way i dress (which is stupid because we all wear the same uniform) or that people know about my parents. I don't usually talk about my parents that much especially my dad.
The amount of times i come in from school to hear my mum shouting and screaming. And it all begins with my father having a drink in his hand. I try not to get involved, my mum begged me not to. I tried to get involved one and my dad gave me a black eye. I don't know what changed. I had a great childhood growing up. Dad taught me how to ride a bike, how to fish and how to dance. My mum taught me how to sing. Music has been a very important aspect of my life.
But ever since Dad started drinking, we weren't allowed to play music. He hated music. I never knew why it just suddenly stopped. Any sound of music he would scream and get aggressive. But my dream is to be in the music business, whether its producing and writing music, or singing and dancing. I want to have enough money for my mother to get a place of her own away from my dad. So she can be happy.
Dad would kill me if he found out.
I get out of bed , grab my clothes and a towel and go for a shower. I like to hum while i'm in the shower. Luckily, the water hitting the bathtub is loud enough so my dad doesn't hear me. I get out of the shower, get changed and go downstairs for breakfast.
I get to the bottom of the stairs to see my mother: Hands have 2nd degree burns, legs and arms covered in bruises. Oh mother....why must you live this way?
She smiles as if they're not there.
"G-Good Morning Sweetie" she said weakly.
"Hi, Mother."
"Y-Your lunch is ready for you to take on the t-table. I-i haven't had the time to make breakfast but i can make you something quick".
"Oh no, it's okay. I need to head to school soon. You should rest, you look like you haven't slept." i said worried.
"SHE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE! SHES GETTING ME MY BEERS!" shouted a male voice in the living room.
My mother looks at me petrified. I hug her.
During our hug, there was a knock on the door. My mother picks up her cardigan from the radiator to hid her bruises. She looks through the peephole to see who it is. She is relieved.
She opens the door, to my best friend: Miyoung.
"Hey Mrs Park! Hey Hwa-Young!" she said with a smile on her face. I'm always happy to see her every morning.
"Hello, Miyoung! G-Great to see you again! Now, you girls better get going! You don't want to be late now".
I grab my bag and lunch off the kitchen table.
"Bye Father!" i shouted. He didn't respond.
I hug my mother for as long as i can.
"Call me if he hurts you again. I'll come straight home" i whispered. She hugs me tighter, as tears start to form.
We let go and say love you to each other as i walk with Miyoung away from the house. My mother waves to us as we wave back then eventually she closes the door.
