No amount of heat can thaw this feeling.

It could be noon on a hot summer day, you could be draped in the warmest blankets or the most insulating sweatshirts.

And yet no matter how much you layer up, there's this underlying chill in the core of your being, deep in your chest, refusing to let any light or joy through.

It's an unbearable ice, your heart and soul frozen over. It forces you to fall into an endless cycle of self-pity and lasts for hours on end. Your laughs and smiles lack warmth, and so do many of the things that are usually able to lift your spirits.

The worst part is, the entire time you are fully aware of the cure to this frost. Instinctively, you know that all you need in order to get rid of this discomfort is to be in presence and company of someone else - a caring friend or concerned family member.

And not having that one person to rely on in this time of need causes the temperature to drop even further.
