Nami and Luffy had both been long gone in order to fill the bottomless pit that was the later's stomach. With a lack of a vehicle Sanji was stuck with Zoro, waiting for the awards ceremony to finish. Although the swordsman smiled and accepted the flowers, and medal, Sanji could tell this felt meaningless to him. There was a hunger about him that wasn't satisfied, it must have been why he was always so desperate for a fight Sanji decided.A buzzing from his pocket disturbed him from his thoughts. Stepping off the the side he removed the phone which read 'Angel'
"How may I help you Nami dear?" Sanji answered the phone with a smile."Sanji," Nami's cried in a relieved tone. "Restaurant is closed, and most places aren't exactly friendly, price wise or accommodating to the Portgas boys."
"It would be my honor to cook for you my dear."
"Sanji-" Nami's voice quipped.
"Yes the other two can join too, but we will have to eat out back since its restaurant hours."
"Thanks Sanji-kun," And with that she was gone.
"Was that Nami?" Zoro's voice was a harsh contrast to Nami's, Sanji whipped around to face the swordsman who now held a black case. He regarded the blonde with an indifference that Sanji was used to.
"Yeah, change of plans we'll be heading to the Baratie for dinner." Sanji stuffed his phone back into his pocket.
"The ocean front restaurant right? Mihawk loves that place."
"Have you been before?" Sanji peeked over curiously to the swordsman
"Nah," Zoro shook his head. "Dad never takes us to the fancy places. But he brings us back the 'left overs'. And they are to die for."
"Hmm," Sanji thought to himself quietly following Zoro to the car. "You have a favorite dish from there?"
"Uh don't know what its called but it was this savory spicy rice and seafood dish. Perona and I always fight over it when Dad brings it home. Why have you been there before?"
"A few times," Sanji smiled to himself, he was all to familiar with the dish Zoro was talking about. Zeff certainly wouldn't let him use any of the ingredients for tonight, but there was stuff in the freezer out back he could use.
"Good cause I have no idea where I'm going.""So I have heard." Sanji smirked looking a the car in front of him with a low whistle. There was no surprise that this was Zoro's 'car'. A matte black corvette sat in front of them, lime green details decorated the car with the word samurai splayed across the fender. It was no secret that the Dracule's were rich. Not only was Zoro's adoptive father the worlds most talented swordsman, unmatched and untouched for years. But he was a leading figure in the "Warlords council" a collection of powerful people that did, well Sanji wasn't quite so sure.
"You can drive her if you want," Zoro stated tossing him the keys, which Sanji fumbly caught. "I gotta call Rona and tell her what I'm doing so she doesn't throw a fit and call Dad."
"Are you sure?" Sanji hesitated, walking to the other side of the car. Zeff may have run a five star world class restaurant, but he never really believed in keeping his wealth.
"Yeah," Zoro shrugged, gently placing his sword case into the passenger side seat as he took out his phone.
"Zorooooo!" A feminine voice screeched through the phone. "That's so not cute of you to call right now I'm busy."
"Oh you mean you are having quality time alone with Heat right now cause Dads not home." Zoro smiled, he could practically feel her annoyance.
"What do you want?" She huffed
"I'll be out with friends tonight I don't know when I'm gonna be home."
"And why do I care?"
"Cause Dad said he'd call tonight," Zoro pinched the bridge of his nose.
"And you want me to cover for you, Horo horo horo. Why should I do that Zozo?"
"Don't. Call. Me. That. Rona." Zoro bit back. "What do you want?"
"You'll owe me, and I will collect Zozo."
"Deal. Bye Rona, use protection I don't wanna be an uncle yet."
"URRRHHH YOU RUIN EVERYTHING—"
To say Sanji was enjoying himself was an understatement,
"So Zozo-" Zoros death glare cause Sanji to surrendered. "I've got an older sister too."
"Does she have your eyebrows?" Zoro jabbed.
"Does she have your moss hair?" Sanji countered.
"No, Perona and I went through the system together. She adopted me first. I would pick fights with everyone especially older kids. She would scold me and fix me up. But we would always look out for each other." Sanji nodded in agreement.
"They may be a pain in the ass but they will always look out for you."
The rest of the ride they sat in silence, neither of them could think of a single think to say to the other. Zoro pretended to scroll through his phone occasionally, trying to distract himself from the obnoxious pounding of his racing heart. Sanji was here. Driving his car!
It was beyond hard to keep his eyes anywhere but on Sanji. The blonde had rolled his window down as they drove along the coastal highway, which only meant his golden strands were blowing in the wind, begging Zoro to run his fingers through them. So far the only thing he discovered when it came to Sanji was the self restraint he thought he had was non-existent.
He wanted so badly to say something to Sanji, to thank him for coming or something. But everything he thought of sounded stupid. 'Hey Sanji, thanks for staying.' One thing was certain he wasn't gonna sound like some love stick teenage girl.
After much deliberation Zoro spoke up. He had been dying to know Sanji's thoughts on the whole fight. It hadn't been his best work to say the least but he hoped it was enough of a tease to give the blonde a desire for more.
"So did I make the match worth your time?"For a second Sanji was tempted to give Zoro grief about it purely because he wanted to but the desire died out when he glanced over. Zoro had his jaw clenched the way he did when he was serious about something. The other boys eyes were staring straight out, watching the road.
"It was impressive, but you also said it was your easiest match of the season." Sanji pulled the car into a parking spot out back, before turning to Zoro who looked back at him. Something else burned in his dark eyes and Sanji wanted to see more of it. "I wanna see you at your best, what you can really do."
A feeling of anticipation grew in Zoro's chest, this was it he finally knew with certainty that Sanji wanted to watch him fight. The slow feeling of dread that had been building in his chest dissipated, this wouldn't be the last time Sanji watched him fight.
"You coming?" The blonde asked, teasingly waiting for Zoro outside the car. "Let's not keep Luffy waiting more than he has too."See y'all again in like 3 months mwahhh jkjk I'm gonna try to be more active but college is kicking my ass.
