The light encroaches the darkness
suffocating the stillness contained with it.
Peacefulness disrupted again and again
A new day; a new reason to be disheartened
The earth whispered chastening experiences
Like a dagger, it stabs, carves and dresses one
donning the robes of repentance, day and night
Look out of the window , at all the things beyond
reach out for them, from within confines
Reproved, humbled: an attempt at enlightenment
Warm glow, recent happenings – the outside
Calls, it calls, it draws the chains of self-restraint
Who do you do it for?
The law, the good of the people, healthiness
Spitting reality of nature borne rage
Awake, to eat, to work, to scroll, to sleep, repeat.
The world feels still, warped, tiny to all
now light shines when I leave to sleep
Yet I cannot leave to bathe in its warmth. The wondering mind asks
Did we bring this upon ourselves?
Burning; hurting; gas asphyxiation; silence
I am you, you are I – earth to hell, tête-à-tête
The people are divided, fighting amongst themselves
Seemingly in unity, they attack and doubt each other
"Is this civilisation?" The wind cackles
A verse for each month, the gut of 2020 hangs
Dead centre, each whip remains reverberating
They shan't recover; rather, it is impossibility
Year of peace as frosting, unfold a rotten dessert
The yoke of freedom veiled as heaven
Survive, live, breathe, subsist, endure
The tide will always turn, the chain worn will wear
another half is near, another existence
Have dominion over the earth and subdue it, evolve
Where light exists, darkness will always have chance
