Erika POV

"Daddy loves you Erika. Aways know that. Good night, my starlight" daddy kisses both my cheeks.

My room darkens with the exception of the bright stars on the window ceiling. Reaching up to the night sky I imagine plucking the stars, giggling at the silly thought.

Soft ruffling of cloth from the corner of the room attracts my attention. Unfortunately I couldn't see over the crib bars. Rolling to my belly and slowly pushing to crawl closer to the bars. Using the crib bars I haul myself to a wobbly stand.

I see a darkened figure at the dark corner. Chewing on my fingers anxiously I kept a steady gaze on the figure. With my other arm I opened and closed my hand towards the creature, hoping they understood that I want them to slowly come closer.

"...Never in imagination could I see myself staring at a recurrence of my mother" the tall dark figure slowly crept forwards. Frustrated that they could see me but I can't see them, I slapped the crib bars with my hands. Distracted by the throbbing pain of my hands I didn't notice the figure looming over me.

"I see that temper is still present at the slightest inconvenience" soft chuckling was heard.

Looking up I met with the most mesmerizing greenish grey eyes I have ever seen in my short existence. Roaming over his facial features the only thing I can think of was, how familiar he was. I was flooded with emotions of belongingness that I have not felt with anyone besides my daddy.

Raising my arms to be picked up. I waited for him to carry me.

Seemingly hesitant in how to pick me up, I got frustrated with how long it was taking. I stomped my foot, "Up!" scrunching my eyebrows at him.

Gentle hands circled my chest and slowly lifted me up. With the major height difference I got excited and clapped my hands.

Thin lips lifted to a minuscule smile. "I have waited thousands of years for you to be born"

Still hanging by the armpits I tried to grab on to his long shirt. It was getting uncomfortable.

Bringing me closer to his chest I close my eyes as I felt warmth envelop me entirely.

"I believe it is time for you to come home" slight movement caused me to open my eyes.

The scene laid in front of me fascinated me.

We were floating above my house surrounded by the stars I loved so much. I didn't care much for the city beneath me but neverending abyss above called for me.

Turning to the man carrying me to meet his steady gaze, "If you wish it. These stars will belong only to you. I, Balem of house Abrasax, swear it"

Laying my head on his shoulders I looked down to my house remembering that I won't be alone anymore.

Earlier that day

I was meticulously picking off the bacon from my scrambled eggs.

Daddy was slouched besides my chair chastising Mr. Joseph, "Joe I told you she doesn't like to eat meat"

Mr. Joseph sat in front of me eating the bacon I was segregating from my food, "Why is it she doesn't eat meat again?"

Daddy was eating his medicine, "She accidentally saw a documentary of how chickens were mistreated before they were slaughtered. So she's refused to eat meat now"

Finally done with picking off the bacon I started to eat while listening to the two adults.

Mr. Joseph started to munch on his breakfast, "Why though? They were specifically bred for us to eat"

Sighing daddy started to drink his green slushie, "Yeah but I have been starting to teach her about the subject of d-e-a-t-h."

Placing his fork down Mr. Joseph solemnly gazed at daddy, "Have you explained it to her?"

Gently wiping my cheek with a paper towel, "Yeah. She's taking it surprisingly well but..."

Mr. Joseph started to clear the table, "What is it?"

Staring worriedly at me, daddy started to pet my hair, "I told her that I loved her even when I'm gone. Then she asked me if she was getting a sibling"

Pausing with clearing the table Mr. Joseph scrunched his eyebrows, "How did she get that idea?"

"I told her that her mother died giving birth to her but we loved her no matter what. Then she said 'Mommy died so I can be born. Does that mean I'll get a sibling when you die?'"

Mr. Joseph ruffled my hair, "Weird kid. wonder how she got that idea."

Daddy lifted me to his lap hugging me, "Baby. Always remember even when I'm gone someone will always be there to love you."
