Chapter two

You walked into the animal shelter. From there you found the front counter. The lady working at the desk looked up at you. She had long straight natural red hair and green eyes. She wore a white sweater dress and black leggings.

"Hello, and welcome to the (your hometown) animal shelter." The lady said with a British accent. "My name is Annie, are you looking to adopt?" She looked up from her computer and looked you in the eye. Her gaze was warm and friendly.

"Actually, I'm (y

). I'm supposed to be starting my job today." This lady seems nice.

"Oh." Her expression went from nice to 'I don't care'. She handed you a chipboard. "Sign in with your name and then time here." The boss just went out to buy a new cat brush and will be back soon. So just wait out in the lobby."

'The boss just went out?' You thought, 'that means he could be the guy I bumped into earlier...' Oh no. You quickly signed your name onto the clipboard and then sat down in the lobby.

You fiddled with your sleeve until you heard a door creak open. It was the handsome man from before. Your heart skipped a beat. His hair was a little messed up from the wind outside. You blushed a little.

He walked up to the front desk, and started talking to Annie, who was being so flirtatious you could almost puke. You felt a strange feeling deep I'm your heart. Was it... 'No it couldn't be, I just met this guy.' You thought trying to just forget about the feeling. It just wouldn't go away.

"(Y

) (l

)?" Said a voice smooth as silk.

You looked up from your thoughts. "Hm?"

"I'm your boss, Heracles Karpusi. I'll be showing you around. Follow me" He held his hand out. You shyly shook it and tried to pull your hand away but it appeared Heracles had a death grip on it. He started to walk along the halls, and you had no choice but to follow him.

He stopped in a room full of cages and barking dogs. "This is the dog room."

"Its very loud." You stated the obvious. *mental facepalm*

"Mmhmm." Heracles replied softly. His voice made you melt inside. You decided to let your hand relax into his. He must have noticed because he loosened his grip.

With out a warning he began to tug you along again. You passed many rooms with no labels or windows. Soon he lead you down a dark hallway to a door at the end. Heracles pulled a little plastic card out of his pocket and swiped it. The door opened and he lead you down a stair case which lead to one more door. He opened it and you gasped.

"So may cats!" You said. There had to be at least 13 cats in the big room. Cat beds, scratch posts, and toys were littered neatly around the room. There was a huge bowl full of food next to a bowl of the same size filled with water.

"This is where I keep all the cats we get." Heracles stated, closing the door behind him. He walked over to a tall cabinet and opened the door. "(Y

), close you eyes for a second."

"W-why?" You asked. He did shut the door behind him...

"Just do it." He commanded. You nodded you head 'yes' and closed your eyes. You heard his footsteps as he walked over to you and placed something on top of your head. "Open them."

You opened your eyes and Heracles was holding a little mirror in front of you. There were cat ears on your head! You reached up and touched them softly. They were fastened onto a little headband that was hidden by your hair. You let out a little giggle. "They look so real!" As you looked up at Heracles. He also had a pair of cat ears on. "You look so cute!"  His gaze softened.

"They look even cuter on you." He replied. 'Damn, I fell right into that one!' you thought as your face turned a light pink. Heracles gently patted you head. "Do you want to pet the kitties?" He asked.

"S-sure, if you don't mind." You replied. Heracles then motioned for you too sit down on the floor. After you did he grabbed a kitty over and sat down next to you. 'Almost a little to close' you thought. He put the cat in your lap. You reached down to pet it. You felt Heracles' hand on top of yours, petting the cat with you. 'He does not understand personal space.' you concluded.

After playing, grooming, petting, and loving the cats both of you had called asleep side by side on the floor in the cat room. The last thing you remembered was the warmth of Heracles' arm around you
