I just kept waking up. In the same room. In the same bed. In the same position. With this noise ringing in my head that I couldn't get to go away. Loud and sharp. Pulsing. There was something at the door. Crawling towards me on all fours staring at me with glowing eyes. "MAMA" I screamed. Trying desperately to move. I called and called hoping she would hear and come wake me up. And I did wake up. In the same room. In the same bed. In the same position. Knowing what was to come. Again I called. Squirming in my bed as the sheets held me in. "MAMA" I yelled out again and again. Tears rolling down my face. I woke up yelling to my mother. In the same room. In the same bed. In the same position. But this time my mother stood there with a flashlight on me. I struggled with the sheets still crying out to her, when again. I woke up. Screaming. And the cycle continued. Again. And again. And again. The sound of my calls overlapping everytime. It became a blur. A blur of diffrent faces and diffrent calls. A blur so fuzzy. So loud.
And then, with a start, it was silent. The ringing was gone. It was quiet. I was awake. I looked to my door which was closed shut. I was awake. I held up my hand to count my fingers. A trick I learned from my friend. Just to make sure I was up.
But there were six. Six. The ringing returned.
And then I woke up.
In the same room. In the same bed. In the same position.
