Michael shifted in the small metal chair, pulling his snug black t-shirt by the hem over his dark stiff jeans. His face was cleanly shaven and his medium-long blonde hair neatly combed. His lack of a haircut left an assortment of uneven lengths and bangs that bordered his face. There was a faint vertical scar that went across his left eye, but despite there being plenty of others, that was the only one clearly visible. Glancing around, he clasped his hands tightly onto the pumpkin-shaped mug and watched people pass by the coffee shop.

It had been a few days since the entity had released him and Jake. For what reason, Michael was still unsure of. But after arriving, Jake had laid down some tough rules for Michael to follow. Number one; he was no longer allowed to wear his mask, unless it was during Halloween. It wasn't because Jake found it disturbing, but more so for the fact that they didn't want any unwanted attention from the police or people who knew Michael. So right now, he sat outside of the coffee shop in Jake's home town, anxious beyond compare about not having his mask and people being able to see his face. And although anyone who approached the brute-of-a-man got intimidated by his tall stature and bulging muscles, and of course the deadly--even sinister--glare, he was still uneasy about being around so many people during the day. He never had this kind of human interaction before unless he was stalking the streets of Haddonfield on Halloween. And, without his mask, all he felt was fear and anxiety.

But now, with Laurie not present in this world, this universe, Michael had no urge to even wield his knife. Or so he thought, until he spotted a slender, curvy barista trying to be a little too chatty towards Jake once he had exited the bathroom. Michael eyed them closely through the window to his right, more importantly focusing on the way she gripped Jake's arm with her fake-nailed hand and gave him a cutesy giggle and shining smile. The sight made his blood boil and he knew that this newfound emotion was called jealousy.

The urge to plunge his stainless steel kitchen knife into that girl's stomach and stare hatefully into her eyes while she choked on her own blood and died was hard to suppress, but the sight of Jake's hidden expression of dislikement soothed the anger enough for now. So Michael slowly released the breath he'd been holding, along with the far-too-firm grip he had on the coffee mug in his hands. But he did not stop staring daggers at that girl, even though Jake had walked away from her and exited the cafe to rejoin him at their table. She seemed to only have caught Michael's gaze after she made the "call me" hand signal to Jake through the window.

With narrowed eyes, Michael somehow intensified the stare and acted like he could kill her with just his glare. And once he saw that it had affected her greatly, she hesitantly turned away from him, seemingly scared of even glancing in their direction again.

"Michael?"
Jake's voice brought his gaze back to the other side of the table, where the ravenette had sat to resume drinking his coffee. Michael's eyes softened automatically and his jaw was no longer tense as a small smile crept to his chaste lips once he noticed Jake had one too. "Please don't kill the waitress, she's just being a little too friendly, which is nothing I can't handle." Jake's tone was light and calm, which eased Michael into a temporary domestic state. "Besides," Jake continued, "I think she got the hint with that death glare." Michael chuckled once while Jake laughed a bit, his brown eyes shining with amusement as he took a sip of his drink.

Both of them were somewhat silent, neither really enjoyed small talk, but only formulated sentences when the moments were comfortable enough or urgent. Jake being a loner meant he was used to being on his own, so sharing his life with a famous serial killer as a lover has been very odd. Especially now that he's back here--in his hometown--where he had ran away from all of the stress in his life. Jake sighed as he glanced around, all the old memories now flooding back since he could barely remember anything during his time in the entity's realm.

"What's wrong?" Asked Michael, concern laced in his deeper, more husky voice, as well as in his light blue eyes. Jake glanced back over to him and gave him a small, temporary smile that lasted only a few seconds. "It's okay, Michael. I'm fine...I'm just thinking about a few things." Michael seemed unsatisfied with that response and questioned him further, "About what?" Jake paused for a few minutes, sighing through his nose while he eyed a storefront down and across the street. "Mostly about my family..about the past--before the entity took me." Jake stated, not looking at Michael but rather staring off into the distance at the small shop he knew all too well.

Following Jake's sightline, Michael saw the store he had been looking at. "You want to go there?" Michael asked, unsure of why Jake was eyeing a pet shop so keenly. Jake snapped his attention instantly to Michael but when he processed the question, a look of uneasiness settled in his expression. "I'm not sure...I haven't been there in quite a while." Jake's eyes trailed slowly back to the shop, the beautiful colors and animal pictures standing out in the bright summer sun. Michael waited patiently for Jake to think it over, to debate with himself on whether it was a good idea or not, and grew tired of it surprisingly quick. He finished his black, dark brew coffee in one big swallow, before standing up from the small chair--trying his best not to knock it over--and holding out his large hand for Jake to take. "Let's go." Michael stated, more as a loving gesture than a demand, and Jake placed his hand in his lover's while standing up as well. His unsettled expression shifted to a more relaxed one, seeing as though Michael often helped distract him from his thoughts and currently gave him enough courage to approach the pet shop.
