2 years Later...

Amethyst Palace

Dimitri's eye twitched as he took in the sight before him. Duke Wynknight and the blonde Prince Athanasius were having tea with a serene expression. Now, usually, this wasn't something bad when two people had tea calmly but good. No, at this moment, it was bad because the said people were two sadistic masterminds who would kill people with a calm smile on their faces if they were annoyed.

"It has been 2 years since we came to Obelia, and you two are having tea parties like a bunch of girls!" Dimitri growled and looked at the blonde Prince. "I thought you said you wanted to have a chat with the Emperor! So what happened?!"

Athanasius raised an eyebrow. "Oh, but I did have a chat with my uncle. You and Noah were there."

Dimitri's eye twitched. "But your chats usually end up with someone dead!"

Athanasius hummed. "Really? Hm, interesting."

Dimitri's eye twitched again while Noah looked amused.

Dimitri scowled at the albino sitting in front of Athanasius. "And you! Why are you here?!"

"Hm?" The albino looked up at the redhead and smiled innocently

"Hm?" The albino looked up at the redhead and smiled innocently. "You should be grateful someone like me the greatest of Wizards am gracing you with my presence, tomato head! Even more than that annoying ravenette wizard of the Black Tower."

A tick mark appeared on Dimitri's temple. "Who're you calling tomato head old geezer?!"

The albino's eye twitched. "Hmph. I'm not old. Look at me. Is this beautiful divine face old? Unlike your ugly mug of yours, you call a face."

Athanasius and Noah shielded their eyes at the brightness.

Narcissistic bastard! everyone thought.

"Ugly mug?! I doubt you're any better than the black wizard of the tower!" Dimitri growled.

Suddenly something caught the wizard's notice. "Where did you get that?" The albino pointed at the ring on the crown Prince's finger.

"Is this the first time you noticed this, Soleil? So much for the great wizard." Athanasius said mockingly to the albino.

Soleil twitched. "Stop evading the question and answer me, brat!"

Athanasius's eye twitched. "Don't call me a brat, geezer. Someone dear to me gave it. Why?"

"Can't believe something like that is wasted on someone like you." The albino scowled and then clicked his tongue. "What's even worse is that you don't know how rare that is."

A tick mark appeared on Athanasius's temple. "What did you say, geezer?!"

A tick mark appeared on Soleil's temple. "Who're you calling geezer, brat?! Anyway, that ring that you have will protect you from everything - even the undead."

Athanasius looked at the ring on his finger.

Soleil crossed his arms and leaned back on the sofa. "Whoever gave it to you must treasure you a lot to protect you like that." The albino nodded thoughtfully. "It is the first time I've seen such a powerful artifact. The fascinating thing is that it will only protect you no one else. If anyone other than you uses the ring, its black magic will kill them slowly and painfully."

"Black magic. So it's cursed." Noah said.

The albino clicker his tongue. "It's not cursed. Well, not cursed for him. The curse, which in actuality is just a fail-safe, is intended for anyone who plans to steal or use the ring for themselves." Soleil looked at the blonde.  "So, therefore, not a curse for you. You are the sole owner of that ring. It will only answer to you no one else. Not even the one who gave it to you. Whoever gave it to you must want to protect you from something. Something so evil that they have gone through so much trouble to make it for you with their own magic and soul. Never take it off!"

Athanasius nodded.

"Wait, soul?" Dimitri said, shocked.

Soleil nodded. "Yes. Part of their magic and soul is sealed in that stone. I've never seen someone go to such lengths to protect someone. What's more interesting is that whoever's soul and magic that belongs to must have known their death was near."

Athanasius frowned. "So father knew he was going to die all along. Was that why he sent me to conquer Atrevicia? Was it so that I have an Empire and many allies just in case Claude wanted to kill me?" Athanasius closed his eyes.

.

"You have my ruthlessness, Athanasius. I'm proud of you. Now your next task is longer than your usual missions. You are to infiltrate the Atrevicia Empire and make it your second kingdom next to Obelia. Take as long as you need to take over the Empire. Make sure that you become the Emperor. Am I clear?"

.

He opened his eyes and smiled sadly. I see. That's why you said to take as long as I needed it. So that I wouldn't be killed by him. Please forgive me for not saving you, father.

"So who gave you that ring, brat?" The albino said curiously.

Athanasius sighed. "My father gave it to me before I went to war with the Atrevicia Empire."

Soleil rubbed his chin and smirked. "Oh? So it was the tyrant Emperor who gave it to you. How interesting. I've got to wonder. Who did he want to protect you from? Himself or someone else."
