As the weeks went by, I became better friends with the unique group of people at school, I was pretty much a part of the friend group and I had settled in nicely.
One day, after school, Nendou had suggested we go get Ramen from the new place that had just opened nearby. We had all agreed besides Mera since she had to work that night.
We all made our way to the Ramen place, laughing and chatting on the way there, except for Saiki, he just kind of walked along with us without saying. I wondered how he was so popular when he was so quiet and obviously just wanted to be left alone, but he seemed nice and that was enough.
Eventually we got to the Ramen place and found our way to a booth large enough to seat us all. I sat across from Kuboyasu and next to Saiki.
I chatted with Kuboyasu about random stuff until we were greeted by the waitress.
"Mera!?" Yumehara squeaked.
"I didn't know you worked here." Said Teruhashi, who had begrudgingly come with us just so she could hang out with Saiki. It was funny, every time I would speak to Saiki, she would glance at me jealousy. It was super obvious she liked him, yet everyone else was oblivious. A girl like Teruhashi could get any guy she wanted, why Saiki? And, it was obvious that Saiki had absolutely no interest in her.
"Oh, y'know. This is just one of the places I work part-time at, I need to help support my family and my siblings!" Mera smiled.
"That's really sweet, Mera." I grinned.
"Thanks y/n,' she blushed, "Anyway, what can I get you guys tonight?"
We all ordered our food, I ordered gyoza ramen, it was ramen noodles in broth with vegetables, a boiled egg and gyoza dumplings, I also ordered a Pepsi. The food arrived for our table and we all enjoyed our meals while chatting and goofing around. The food was delicious and when the customers grew scarce Mera came for a quick chat.
Overall, it was a very good night but eventually it was time to leave, as the restaurant was going to close soon. We said our goodbyes as some of the other parents picked them up, I stared in awe as Teruhashi's chauffer picked her up in a limousine as she waved goodbye, apparently she was super rich and I'm totally not jealous... as everyone left one by one, eventually there was just me and Kuboyasu left.
"Are you walking home?" He approached me and asked. The wind was picking up as the evening air grew fresh.
"Yeah, It's a bit of a hike though. My mother's working so she can't really come pick me up, it's fine though." I laughed, my breath condensing a it mixed with the cold air.
"Aw that sucks, what area do you live in?" He asked. I told him where I lived, and his eyes lit up. "Hey, that's really close to my house. That's only like a few streets down from me!"
"Woah! Really?" I grinned.
"Yep, how about I give you a lift home?" He offered.
"A lift? How are you getting home?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Follow me." He responded. I followed him a little further down the car park to where a black motorbike was sitting.
"Woah! I didn't know you could ride a motorbike! That's awesome!" I cried; seriously, how much more awesome could this guy get!?
Kuboyasu chuckled, his breath fogging up his glasses. He swiped his glasses down off his face and used his shirt to clean them, suddenly, I felt a wet droplet fall on my face.
"Ugh, it's raining." I shivered.
Kuboyasu removed his jacket and gestured for me to take it, "Here, take this."
I felt my cheeks heat up, "Are you sure? It's fine I don't really need-"
"Just take it. It's fine, I promise." He insisted.
"Fine, just cos' I'm nice." I said teasingly as I stuck my tongue out, graciously accepting the jacket and slipping it on. Kuboyasu and I had quite the height difference, he was tall and lithe, and I was practically swimming in his warm, cosy jacket.
I grinned at Kuboyasu and his cheeks flushed pink, "You're such a goof," he peered up at the sky over his glasses, rain dripping down his hair and trickling down his face, "The rain's getting worse, lets get out of here."
He got on his bike and knocked back the kickstand, shuffling forwards a bit and patting the edge of the seat behind him. I swung me leg over the bike and nuzzled my face into the back of Kuboyasu's shirt, he was warm and smelt of nice cologne and cinnamon.
"You comfy?" he chuckled.
"Mhm." I replied, muffled from the closeness.
"Hold on," he warned as he revved up the engine before speeding off. He drove carefully as he weaved through the side streets of the suburbs. My hair whipped through the air as I clung on to his waist, I basked in the feeling of comfort and euphoria as Kuboyasu tried his best to avoid puddles. Light from the streetlamps danced off the rain as we pulled into our street and slowed to a halt.
"This is your house, right?" Kuboyasu asked.
"Yep!" I nodded.
"Here, let me walk you up." He smiled politely.
I opened the gate and we walked up the short path and stood under the porch near the door. Kuboyasu stood there awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head.
"Thankyou, Kubo, for everything." I sighed.
He blushed at the nickname, "It's fine." He shrugged.
I shuffled closer to the purple haired boy and got up on my tippy toes, planting a small kiss on his cheek.
Kuboyasu's eyes widened, "I... wow." He stuttered.
"Goodnight," I grinned as I entered my house, leaning back on the closed door, sliding down into a sitting position, and smiling to myself. My lips were tingly and warm where I had kissed him, and a warm happy feeling entered my body. I gasped as I completely forgot I had borrowed his jacked, I rushed outside to try and return it to him, but he had already driven off into the night.
I shuddered and pulled his jacket around me, cuddling into its warmth. The rain pelted down, and I sighed.
Y'know, maybe, moving countries wasn't so bad after all.
Even though it wasn't by choice I had a cool new house,
a cool new place to explore,
a new group of exciting people to be friends with,
a new place and new people to make memories with,
and a guy I loved.
