Chapter One: Moved In

Kendra p.o.v

"Wow this is actually nicer than I thought" I said observing the very spacious apartment.

"I say we just go ahead and put a deposit down and first and last months rent!" my best friend said, she was clearly excited.

My best friend Adalyn and I decided that it was time to get our own apartment. We were about to start our sophomore year of school and decided that the "dorm life" wasn't it anymore.

So after one year of not only keeping up with our studies but also working until we couldn't anymore we had finally saved up enough money to rent an apartment near our school.

We also had a lot of extra money from our parents and gifts from holidays and birthday's.

"Woah, slow down Addy. We haven't even fully checked out the place yet" I said. She rolled her eyes at my stubbornness.

"What else is there to see, it's huge! Has a living room, kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and a study!" I mean she's not wrong it is huge and has pretty much any other apartment would have.

Also you can't beat the rent, $600 a month is pretty cheap and kind of sketchy but it's better than the city, a loft this big would be three times more in rent.

"Okay you sold me, when can we move in?" I ask turning to the landlord

"It is move in ready so whenever you would
like, follow me back to the office and we'll go ahead and get the paperwork filled out and y'all will be set" the older man kindly said to us, he seemed really sweet and didn't seem like he would give us problems in the future.

Adalyn grinned at me "this is so exciting! I'm so glad we finally made a decision, now I can finally finish buying everything from Hobby Lobby!"

This girl could live in Hobby Lobby if she had the chance, every time we meet back up with each other she's always showing me her new pillow, plants, hang lights, picture frames or other things.

Don't get me wrong I love her to death but jeez she needs to calm down with the buying. I can't really say much because that's me with Amazon Prime. If I see it in videos or on tv, i'll most likely buy it.

"Hmph" I let out while sitting down on our used but fairly new couches. Yesterday we finally got to move in and we just finished putting everything away and setting everything up.

"Kendra, come here! Lets take a picture to remember this moment!" Adalyn said to me pulling me off the couch.

She set her phone up on a counter and put it on the from camera. "Hurry up and pose" she squealed setting off the timer on the phone. We stood next two each and smiled while hugging each other.

I honestly couldn't believe this was happening, Adalyn and I dreamed about this since we met ten years ago. Even though we have different interests, we have managed to stay best friends all these years.

She's a business major and I'm a theatre major, I know what you're thinking. I should go into business and she should go into acting. That's not the case though, I really enjoy being on stage. It's a chance to be someone else for a couple hours.

I do love myself but it's something about stepping onto that stage and being something that I'm not, it brings me peace and makes me feel complete.

"Kendra, Kendra!" I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to a concerned looking Adalyn. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah I'm just thinking. I know I can be a bit of a realistic Randy but I'm honestly really happy we did this and I can wait to see what comes next for us!" I said, she looked like she was about to cry.

"You're gonna make my cry Kenny, I love you" she said hugging me

"Love you too" I said hugging her back.

There was a little bit of silence after our sentimental moment. Adalyn spoke after a while. "To celebrate us moving into our new apartment we should go to a party!" She winked at me knowingly.

She winked because there was only one place that would be throwing parties on a Thursday night and she's knows how much I do not want to go to any of those parties.

I gave her a look that screamed 'hell no'

She sighed "Oh come on Kendra, why don't you ever want to go to parties?"

"What do you mean, I always go to parties. I just don't go in Greek Village?" I pointed out

"Why though? It's just Greek Village, it's not like they're celebrities or anything"

"Frat boys scare me and they never have good alcohol, I'm sorry but if I'm gonna drink I want liquor not nasty beer or seltzer's" I said while going to the kitchen to grab a water out of the fridge.

"Pleaseeeee, come to the party with me pleaseeee for meee!" She started begging "We can even buy our own alcohol!"

"Okay fine, well it's only five and I know they don't start until around eleven so I'm going to get some beauty sleep" I tell my best friend, taking my water to go

"Set an alarm so you have enough time to get hot!" She shouted from the living room

I get to my room and set my water on my bedside table and as soon as my head hit the pillow. I was out like a light.

Hey guys! Done with the first chapter and I'm excited to write the next one. I promise they will get longer, I'm still trying to figure how I want to go about this story!
