For as long as Lance could remember, Keith had always been on top. Keith was always the one Shiro went to after a mission. Congratulating everyone but telling me I was ok, however I still needed to work harder.

"Maybe try training with Keith" he had said after we got back from a mission.

The entire mission Keith had been amazing, killing everyone left right and centre. Whereas I was useless. I hadn't got any sleep because I was up training, so my aim was off and my vision was blurry. My sleep schedule was fucked up.

"Lance! Pay attention!" Came a boom from Shiro in my comms. Then came Pidge "Lance! STOP Joking around and actually help us for once in your life!" I knew I didn't help. She didn't need to remind me. I simply replied with a small "sorry, I'll do better".

I looked over and watched as the ship had a cannon aimed at the one and only Keith, as it charged up I screamed "Keith watch out!" While driving my lion over there. I heard Keith reply with a small "What Lance?!" Before I collided with him and the cannon hit me, pushing me and my lion put into space.

I let out a horrifying scream, before all I saw was darkness.

~time skip~

I opened my eyes slowly and realised I was in some sort of container. I was confused for a second until it opened and I fell forward hitting the cold floor.

I lay there for a few minutes pondering getting up or not. I felt weak.

Finally, I plucked up the courage to get up and drag myself out of the room. I ached like hell and all I needed right then was to sleep or at least lie down.

As I walked down the halls, I realised all the lights were off. Where was everyone? I shuddered from the cold as I walked down the narrow hallway.

My eyes lit up as I heard voices coming from what I know to be the control room. I walked in and everyone except Keith, was around the middle, laughing at something Allura had said.

I spoke for the first time and said "Hey guys" with a small smile. They all stopped and turned towards me. No one spoke. My smile dropped and I whispered "um...what?"

Shiro was the first to speak. He coughed before saying "Lance, glad to see you're looking better" and smiling. I could tell it was fake.

I looked at him "What's wrong...? I know somethings up" I knew when Shiro was lying. He had, had many nightmares in the past and when I asked if he was ok he would always say he was. When I denied it, he would tell me everything.

Everyone slowly stood up but Allura was the first to walk towards me. She walked up, looking angry before screaming in my face "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN KEITH KILLED!" And slapping me across the face.

I stood in shock and held my cheek. I knew it was true, though didn't I almost die as well? I guess I was dumb enough to not push him to safety.

Allura spoke up again "WELL?!...WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF?!" Basically backing me up to the wall.

I felt tears form in my eyes and once my back hit the wall, they all started to pour out as I slid down the wall, whispering over and over again "I'm sorry" and "I didn't mean to"

I felt my breathing speed up and I held onto my ears as they started to crowd around me, I screamed "STAY AWAY!" And tried to push myself back out the crowd but was only met with Shiro's legs. I looked up and saw his concerned face.
