I Love You

For Jennifer, the world came to a stop when she picked up the phone. She could never in a million years would have thought she would get this call. She could hear the words but it felt like the person was shouting from a distance. David saw her stunned and asked who was it on the other line. But she didn't answer, he asked her a couple of times, but Jennifer looked as if she had seen a ghost. He decided to check himself who was on the call so he got up from his chair and took away the phone from Jennifer's hand and pressed it on his ears.

"Hello, who is this?" He asked. He could hear the ragged breathing and faint voice trying to form words "I LOVE YOU...." David got angry and shouted, "who is this?" But no one answered and then he hung up the call.

He held her face in his palms and tried to talk to her but Jennifer didn't say a word and pointed at the phone. He replied "I know. I know". He didn't know what to do what to say. He was confused about himself. He wasn't ready for this, who will be? This was something that never happened.

He took her to the couch and made her sit. She was still not responding, she was in a shock. He got her a glass of water and touched the glass to her lips urging her to drink. Sarah sat back on the porch, oh she was so upset she had finally made that call but Jennifer had picked up. She had to shout at Jennifer and curse her then David had taken away the phone but had not let her complete what she wanted to say. It had taken so much to even get herself call him. Since the time she knew she can do it, talk to him, her mind would not let her sleep, she was occupied with a lot of thoughts. She wanted to hear his voice, She couldn't help herself. She wanted answers. She had tried to go meet him but couldn't. She had even gone to the house once and rang the bell and waited for them to open the door, but they had avoided her. She had seen someone peek through the glass window but they didn't open the door. She was angry but there was nothing left to be done except make the call. This was the only way to get in touch with him.

David was panicking he knew who it was on the call. He didn't know what to do. He was freaking out, But now the most important thing was handling Jennifer, this call was definitely not something that he needed right now. Jennifer had already stopped eating, she had even stopped sleeping weeks ago, she used to curl up in the bed and switch off the lights and cry all day and night, to make her get out of the bed was a task. She was not in her senses. She needed help, but he couldn't provide her any. He had brought a lot of over the counter sleeping pills that he could give her so she can rest but she had refused to take it. But today after almost 3 weeks something had changed she had gotten up for the 1st time. He was happy, he loved her so much, she made his heart skip a beat, she was the only reason he was alive, she was so beautiful like an angel, he just wanted to hug her and forget everything. Today she was a little bit better than the days before. And now this call, he was scared and he thought she would never recover. Sarah decided to try again to make the call, She knew it was past midnight but this was the only time she could call him and try to talk to and he wouldn't avoid her. She dialed the number, it rang and rang and rang but no one picked up. This was it, she decided to go to the house and make him listen to her. They had to let her in, this was it, she was done playing games. It was a dark windy night, the lights on the streets were flickering, the leaves have fallen on the ground after the fall were scattered on the road. Sarah marched towards their house and tried to ring the bell for a long time but no one opened the door, she started banging the door. Still, there was no answer, she started shouting his name.. David... David... David... David. I Love You... I love you... David I love you...

It had been a crazy night. The only thing David wanted to do is to get to bed. He had tried to have Jennifer eat the dinner but as usual, she didn't eat a single thing and went up to the room. He cleaned up and made sure he had everything ready for the next day and finally went to bed. As soon as his eyes were shut he heard it the ringing of the doorbell, he looked at the clock, and Jennifer woke up. She realized it and curled herself in the bed. He didn't know what to do. He went close to Jennifer and hugged her. He sat there for 10 mins. Jennifer was shivering in his arms, crying hysterically. The bell kept on ringing and then she started banging on the door. He knew it was time to go and face her. He was done with all this. He wanted to live happily with his wife. She was a mistake. He had to let her know. He was never hers to begin with, he had loved Jennifer and always will. Fear and Rage overtook him and he went down. As soon as he reached downstairs. The wind blew the door open. 

She came and he saw it, she still had the glass piece stuck in her stomach that Jennifer had killed her with and in a faint voice said I LOVE YOU....
