Xavier watched his mate enter through the door of the red-lit room, seductively turn and shut the door with her butt sticking out. He knew her every move was intentional, meant to throw him in the deep ends of desire. It would be a lie to say it wasn't working.
His eyes roamed every inch of her being, soaking it in as much as he could. He wanted to imprint everything about her in his memory, to embed it so deeply that it would remain at the forefront of his consciousness in all his waking moments, and haunt his dreams every single night.
But more than desire, he felt pain. How could he call himself an Alpha if he failed to protect the one person he was made for? How did she even end up here objectified and degraded by people who couldn't be worthy of even her toenail? Xavier had been privy to what was being said about his mate out in the club, and it took everything not to lash out. The only thing that kept him sane in this moment was the anticipation building to see her.
He had to keep to his instincts in check. Even though all he wanted to do was cover her up, hide her from prying eyes and take her home where he'd ensure all her needs were met, he couldn't. He had to be patient.
The fist in his lap clenched harder as he recited the number one rule of the club to himself over and over again: no hands. His other hand which lay on the armrest of the navy-coloured velour couch, gripped it, almost to the point of breaking it.
'A worthy Alpha must remain calm and collected, Xavier.' His mentor's voice rang his head. He fought to keep that thought in the foreground of his brain as she turned around.
Kira's movements where fluid, her lips in a small pout when she initially looked at him. She had tilted her head down to give off the innocent vibe, still in character. All was going according to plan until her eyes met his.
The overwhelming emotions hit her like a ton of bricks, rushing in all at once. Her heart dropped, it felt as though the wind got knocked out of her system and all at once the bad feeling in her gut turned into nerves that spread from her core to the tips of her fingers. She lost balance watching him watch her, gripping the door handle harder as she stumbled back onto the door. All strength had left her limbs, and it took the last of her energy to not collapse to the ground in that moment. Overwhelming desire and longing, almost to the point of pain, hit her.
Xavier didn't fair any better. All the anger that built up over the night had melted away as soon as they locked eyes. Although he'd been watching her all night, he wasn't nearly prepared for this moment. He felt as though he'd been punched in the gut by his overwhelming instinct to hold and protect her, and yet simultaneously was hit with the desire to collapse at her feet and offer everything to her. He wanted to be everything for her, and give her all she wanted. All strength left him as well, and it took everything in him to not move towards her.
Kira was shaking without realising it, looking straight at this attractive man who had this strange effect on her. He had dark hazel eyes, looking at her with strong determination and... admiration? That wasn't something she was used to seeing. His features were sharp, and she took note of his thick eyebrows and a fade-cut curly hair. His lips were thicker than hers and plump, not a scar spotted on his skin. He had an athletic build, and looked large in the couch, wearing a blue button up shirt, black dress pants and black loafers. He didn't fit in here.
Just as Kira was soaking him in, Xavier was soaking her in. She was back in her pink coat that she wore at the beginning of the show, the wig's bangs cascading over her forehead and eyebrows. She looked at him with fear and reservation, her wide eyes rapidly scanning him, frozen in place and shaking, her breathing suddenly erratic. She had a slim yet athletic build, tall with long beautiful legs, but he could see a few scars on them.
Her eyes met his again and she seemed to try and collect her bearings, clearing her throat and standing up straight. She opened her mouth and closed it again, her erratic breathing not slowing down. She swallowed hard and released a shaky breath. Xavier didn't realise he was holding his breath watching her.
"I-I'm sorry." She said, looking to the ground at his feet. The sound of her voice made Xavier release the breath she was holding. She turned the door knob, raising a rush of panic in him.
"Don't." He said, his voice just loud enough for her to hear, stern in his tone. She paused at his voice, something in it washing warmness over her. She didn't know what kept drawing her to him, but suddenly she felt safe, however it didn't stop her shaking. Her eyes looked to him and found a frown etched on his face, eyes widened in fear. "Please don't." He said, pleading. Kira felt her throat close up, tears threatening to well up in her eyes from the confusing emotions she felt. The only other time she'd felt so involuntarily vulnerable with a person since she hit adulthood was with Abi.
"Okay." She barely managed to choke out, her hand unconsciously letting the handle go. She released another breath. "Okay."
Xavier clenched his fist again, fighting against the urge to get up and hold her in his arms once more.
Kira got herself together enough to move towards the pole, which was off to the right side of the room. His eyes never left her as she moved, taking note of how gracefully she did so despite everything she must be feeling.
"You don't have to." He said. She paused, looking to him, offering a small smile.
"What else would you be here for?" She asked and turned away before he could respond. She held the pole and started strutting around it, choosing to ignore all she was going through emotionally, internally repeating to herself that she was a professional. Never mind that the entire routine and dialogue she practiced prior to her reaching the pole had been thrown out of the window.
After a few swings, she'd slipped completely into her performance mode, managing to switch herself off once more. She proceeded to move to slip the coat off.
"Keep it on." Xavier suddenly said, his rough tone snapping her back to reality. His breathing had grown more erratic watching her dance. He was barely holding back his lust. His hard-on was calling for attention more and more each second, and he couldn't help but imagine how she'd look like moaning his name and drowning in desire with him in her.
Her head snapped to him, and she was suddenly assaulted by an intense desire. The fire in his eyes almost illicited a moan from her lips, but she instead bit her lip and dropped to her knees and hands, crawling toward him. She ignored the burning pit in her core and let her racing heart take the back seat, looking at him with her head tilted down. She knew her actions were motivated by her own want for this man that managed to shake her without any words, but she kept rationalising that she was just doing her job.
He helplessly watched her as she stopped in front of him, both of his hands gripping the couch armrests at this point. She sat up with her knees to the ground, sitting back on her feet and her hands palm down on the ground in front of her. She was dangerously close to him, in between his wide spread legs.
"Why... Can't handle it?" She asked, lifting her hand to unbutton the coat.
