"Hey, don't you think their setter is kind of small?"

"Yeah, and he looks kind of frail."

"Maybe he's a backup setter."

"I've never heard of this school."

Yukana was generally nice but she didn't tolerate anyone talking smack about her precious team. "You haven't heard of this school maybe because you aren't good enough." They turned to face her, and if the ravenette's scowling face wasn't enough, the captain stood behind her. "We're not from around here either."

"That frail shrimp you guys are talking about is the backbone of Nekoma. He's our brain." Kuroo said, a dark expression adorning his features, "and our heart."

"Now, move. You're blocking our way." Her voice was monotone, but even they could feel the coldness that radiated from her.

"You're so cool Yu," he cooed, draping an arm over her shoulder.

She huffed, "whatever. Warm up with the others."

"Let me stay with you... I don't need to warm up righ—" he trailed off when he saw the expression on her face. "C'mon Yu, I feel like we haven't hung out in awhile. You never sleepover anymore."

Yukana pursued her lips and folded her arms, "we can hang after you win this practice match. And if you win the game against Karasuno, I'll sleepover. How's that?"

Kuroo's lips curved up into a grin, "promise?'

"I promise, nerd," she rolled her eyes at him and pushed him onto the court. With her clipboard in hand, she walked over to the benches to asses everyone's form, jotting down notes and what they could further work on. It was fine until he popped into her thoughts, almost making her drop the pen she was holding.

She thought no one had noticed the sudden lack of composure as it was minuscule, but, two people did.

Kenma cared about practice, he did, to some extent but if he had to choose between volleyball and her, he'd always choose her. He stopped setting and made his way over to her, "what's wrong?"
