Suki Kishi tenderly rubbed her swollen belly, as her husband accompanied her. The pair watched Dirtier Dancing in their living room, though it merely filled the silence. They planned what the name of their child could be, as Susan entered the home run of her pregnancy. It was strangely domestic, as Thomas pecked her forehead.

Barely two weeks passed where the spouses raced to the hospital, nervousness and adrenaline coursed through their veins. Thomas helped Suki into the building, as they reached an unoccupied labour room. The pair were on edge. They weren't sure what to expect within the next few hours, but they kept their spirits up for their child.

Their child. Despite those thoughts feeling foreign, Thomas smiled fondly. He couldn't wait to spend more of his life with his wife and their oncoming son.

Unbeknownst to them, a good five hours passed. Thomas sat beside Suki as she squeezed his hand to death, he made sure to praise her with each breath he took.

"Don't worry, it's okay. All your efforts will be rewarded with our baby boy." He'd reassure repeatedly.

Then finally, after 8 hours within the confining room, Suki had successfully given birth. The doctor held the tiny boy in her arms, as she immediately noticed something wrong with him. She hovered two fingers above his nose, and when she received nothing, she laid the limp boy upon the counter. She quickly checked the baby's pulse. It was still. She lightly placed her fingers on his chest. It was still. The doctor could only come to one devastating conclusion.

The baby was dead.

The doctor could only look onward in vein.

"I'm sorry, is there a hold up?" Tom questioned the doctor, irritation evident.

She lifted her head from the deceased child and glanced towards the couple. Thomas held Suki's hand whilst the other softly massaged her stomach. The sight itself was heart breaking. If only their child had survived.

"I..." The doctor hesitated, wary of how to start. "I'm so sorry, but your son passed away whilst you were giving birth."

A horrid gasp, before sobs filled the room. The pair embraced each other for dear life. The doctor gave the couple space, as repeated apologies echoed uselessly along the bland walls.

Thomas' thoughts wondered, as he tried to calm his wife enough so they could leave. I wish I could have seen you grow up, Yuto Kishi.
