Aleksei P.O.V.
Huh. Wonder what all that was about. I said -I give up on giving up- and they look at me like I'm crazy. While I was around Russia, many people said those words to me. Working for, and apprenticing under different carpenters, blacksmiths and culinary experts and those who didn't believe in me told me to give up.
-I'm still going to keep my word- I muttered to myself, stretching out my sore muscles to alleviate the pain.
-Perhaps it's best you keep doing it- I heard a stern feminine voice behind me.
I knew it was Master Tigress because of her smell. I turned to face her and gave a slight bow of respect to the only I haven't trained with yet, although I heard Master Mantis mumble something about that being a blessing.
I don't get it
-I don't understand, you were the one who told me to go- I said to her, not knowing what to expect from the master had blatantly told me to clear out the night before for whatever reason. Maybe this was another attempt to get me to leave, but I could not be sure until I got an answer.
She regarded me for a moment then looked me straight to the eye or were my eyes should be and said.
-The fact that you won't give up is the mark of a real warrior- She took a couple steps towards me.
-In fact, I'm a little impressed you managed to get through all that and still are able to stand up straight-
She is impressed, I know.
-I may not be good at this Kung fu business, but I am a lot tougher than I look- I said to her. Which is true, the wolves from Russia like me are harder to keep down than a juicy rumor about the emperor's wife.
But you didn't heard that from me.
-I've noticed. There were a few instances when I thought your bones had broken, and yet here you are walking it off- She turned to her right, took a few steps then turned sharply on her heel and paced back and forth a few times.
-Tell me, have you learned anything from your first day of training here?- She asked me still pacing.
Did I learned anything? Yeah, I learned how it feels to get my ass kicked by the Furious Five. I learned that I have to make much more effort if I want to improve. But besides that, while I was fighting them I noticed many things. The way they move; there were patterns.
There was a rhythm.
I also noticed that no matter how far or near they were located, I could still detect them, I could still read them. Once I detect the pattern I could clearly see where they were going to attack. I could feel the moment and the place where the attacks were going to land.
I can't believe how I didn't noticed it earlier.
-So you did learn something- I heard Master comment, ripping me from my thoughts. I could feel Master Tigress staring intently at me. She closed distance between us, looked where my eyes should be once again.
-You don't use your eyes to fight, wolf- Don't like being called that.
-You are more experienced in using your other senses- She took a step back and got in her fighting stance.
-So instead of just fighting, Why don't I teach you how to use them better?- Was she serious? Listening carefully I didn't find any sign that she was joking. Damnit. I got into an unrefined stance; my arms close to my body, palms out and forward. My left foot was in front pointed straight ahead, my right had most of my weight on it and was pointing to my right. With this stance I could easily shift my weight from my right foot to my left in case I needed to evade. I was tense.
