Ch 3 - Blunt

Unicorn smiled as she went to Belfast. The maid is basically a big sister to her. Little Unicorn is quite the adorable shy type. But when she was comforted by Belfast she worked up the courage to talk to Fairfield.

She bowed to her. "Thank you for rescuing U-Chan. I appreciate it."

"No problem kid. You playing on the beach for a bit or are ya having a walk with your friends?"

Javelin smiled. "I think a walk on the water and go from there. Bye for now."

"Bye-bye." Yawned Laffey.

Now it was just Fairfield, Enterprise, and Belfast. The three of them watched them go into the distance. Then Belfast had looked at the time. I was getting close to the afternoon. She looked up at Fairfield.

"It is almost lunchtime. Would you like to join us?" Asked Belfast.

"You know, usually I'd stay at the horizon, but with the special occasion I will join you two. Why not?"

"We stopped by and you weren't around this morning. Early start?" Enterprise wanted to dig deep and find out what was going on. She had a phase before and wanted to help Fairfield. She did teach her unintentionally. Enterprise was worried that she may have picked up some bad habits. Or even worse.

"Got dressed, had espresso, grabbed a water and two bars, and I was out. How long I gotta take?"

"You went without breakfast and went on rations?" Gasped Belfast.

"Meal replacement bars. I got my rest, my caffeine, and my breakfast. Head out and I'm on patrol. Got to do what you got to do."

"Is this necessary?"Asked Belfast looking over at her friend Enterprise who is just gathering this whole conversation.

"Got to be useful you know. I eat, I bathe, I work just like everybody else. There some sort of routine?" Pondered Fairfield as she is wondering where this conversation is going. 

Enterprise smiled. "Wow. She thought I was bad. It makes me wonder what I taught you by accident years ago." Shaking her head. "The day after I met Belfast she came to my room, woke me up to some tea, and asked me to head to the cafeteria."

"Nothing gets by you. I was out before they had breakfast served." Replied Fairfield.

"And your sister?" Enterprise expressed concern.

"Who knows. I just got into an argument with her a little before Yuni showed up. She's just doing her thing. Whatever it is. I don't know what they have her doing. I just know Haven is kicking back, reading books, and being with her true love. Pizza."

( Fun fact. New Haven, Connecticut which is about an hour away from me is voted to have the best pizza in America. Also, the restaurant that invented the hamburger is still around to this day. It was originally steamed. They still have the original steamers. I haven't tried because a buddy of mine told me it was overrated, but still cool. )

"She is coming up with tactics. Haven seems happy with it." Smiled Belfast

"I wish I was in battle proving my worth and I'm waiting. I'm happy." Shrugged Fairfield.

"Indeed. Though are you joining us for lunch? Madam Wales is expecting us. There is an extra seat."

"Really? Huh. She won't mind? Don't feel like I'm dressed the part." Fairfield was in pants while everyone else looked rather pretty.

"Nonsense. You look great and you are part of Azur Lane."

"Alright. Pour the tea."

Lunch was served. At the table this afternoon was Wales and Sheffield welcoming Fairfield, Enterprise, Belfast, and Unicorn. It was a pleasant outdoor lunch. Tea at the perfect temperature, sandwiches made with time and love, and a great atmosphere in a garden. To the British allies this was another day in paradise. To Enterprise an honor.

Then to Fairfield. "This a change of pace for me. It's such a change of scenery. Though the garden has a certain lifestyle to it."

Wales nodded. "Thank you. It is peaceful and is open to guests. Privacy yet out in the open if that makes sense."

"It does. Though it's different because usually it's just me flying solo."

"There a reason?" Asked Sheffield. "Even I'm accompanied on missions."

"And duties?"

"Usually the same. The bath house is open for all of us. Missions are the same. We are all on the same side."

"Not to pull on ya bloomers Sheffy, but I'm just used to it at this point. I got an assignment after years of waiting and I'm doing what I do. That's it. I've read, I've rested enough for two people, and now I'm acting. Simple. Action speaks. Fair enough?"

"Yeah..." Sheffield looked over at Wales. Then over to Belfast to see if anyone would speak up.

"So I take it you're back to your guard duty?" Asked Wales.

"Yes ma'am."

"Alright. I suppose we will have you get through it. If there is anything to report you have all of us on standby."

Fairfield got up from her seat and bowed. "My pleasure ladies. You will be in my thoughts." She made sure her clothes her proper and walked right off.

Belfast was shocked. She watched Fairfield leave in the distance as she looked around the table. Unicorn seemed a tad worried but had Yuni to focus on. Sheffield knew that something was going on though didn't have a full picture of what it was. Then looked at Enterprise. "Just why is everyone letting that girl go like that? She's going to extend overboard."

"You taught me it Belfast. You want to have to change before any of it. It is just as simple as that. You came in my room, told me to have tea and breakfast, and I got repaired. It was a want. She wants yo do her own thing. Let her learn."

"I suppose..."
