You were in your kitchen cooking your favorite dinner for you and your boyfriend of eighteen months, Spencer Reid. Spencer had just returned from a long case where the unsub had captured his victims and tortured them senselessly for three days before he finally killed them.
You had told Spencer that you would cook dinner while he took a shower and freshened up. It felt good to have him back with you. You hated when he was away for long periods of time, but you know how much he loved his job and you didn't want to take it away from him. So you two compromised. Every night when he could, Spencer would call you and if he couldn't he would text you to let you know he was busy. It's what made your relationship so strong.
But you still haven't met Spencer's team even though you had been together so long. It was either they were on a case or you were working. You really wanted to meet the team but everything kept getting in the way. Usually, after a long case like the most recent one, the team would meet up at a local bar to relax after the long case. You planned to meet up with the team and finally meet them this time, but Spencer said they were all tired and decided against going to the bar. You accepted it and gladly agreed to a night in with your boyfriend.
Just as you finished cooking dinner, a loud ringing noise sounded throughout the kitchen. Spencer's phone sat on the countertop and the screen flashed angrily as it rang.
"Spencer!" You called out, but you could still hear the water going off in the bathroom. Sighing, you reached over and answered his phone, "Hello?"
"Spencer?"
"Spencer's in the shower right now, can I help you?" You asked.
"Uh...who is this?" The person questioned.
"Y/N, Spencer's girlfriend."
"Girlfriend!" This time you heard many other voices along with the one you originally heard. Checking the caller ID, you saw that it was JJ who had called him. Spencer had mentioned JJ before and told you that she was his best friend at BAU. You trusted it but didn't like him having a girl best friend but you accepted either way. But the other people on the phone must be the rest of his team.
"Oh! You must be Spencer's team," you said to them.
"Um...yeah? Um how long have you and Spencer been together?" JJ, you thought, asked.
"Eighteen months, why?"
"Eighteen months," she whispered, "You two have been together for nearly two years and you guys never told us?"
Your face scrunched up in confusion, "What? Spencer never told you guys?" You could hear the shower turn off and the sound of the shower curtain sliding on the rod. Oh was he about to get it.
"No. We just all assumed he was still single," JJ said.
He bathroom door had opened and Spencer emerged from the room and with a towel wrapped around his waist, "Listen I'm gonna have to call you back, okay?"
"Uh...okay? Bye Y/N, hope to meet you soon."
"Uh huh, bye now." You hung up the phone and glared at Spencer as he stated at you in confusion.
"Who was that?" He asked.
"Your team," His eyes widened in shock before his shoulders relaxed and he let out a loud audible sigh.
"Y/N..." he began but you beat him to it.
"You never told them about us? Spencer we have been together for eighteen months and you never thought it was a good idea to tell them that you had a girlfriend?" You spat out. In the time that you and Spencer had been together, you never had a big argument. But then again, you thought people knew about you, "Who else doesn't know about me, Spencer? Does your mom know about me?"
"Of course she knows about you, Y/N. I just didn't want to tell my team just yet," he said.
"And why not? Spencer, they are your best friends and they don't know you're in a relationship. They don't know about us! Are you ashamed of me or something that you kept your friends in the dark for so long?" You spoke.
"What? No, Y/N, it's not like that..."
"Then what Spencer? What's it like?" He didn't say anything just stared down at the floor in silence. You could hear the wheels turning from here, "That's what I thought. Let me know when you come up with a reasonable excuse to hiding me from your friends."
You brushed past him as you made your way to your shared bedroom. Spencer had tried to reach out for you but you moved away before his hand could grab a hold of you. You slammed the door and locked it. He can sleep on the couch tonight...in the towel.
An hour later, a light knocking could be heard. You shifted from your position in the bed to sit up. You heard shuffling on the other side of the door before the light knocking continued, "Y/N?" You sighed and laid back down on the bed. You were still angry with him, but you did miss his touch. You two didn't get to spend much time together before he went and took his shower. "Y/N, please? Please open this door. I want to show you something."
Huffing softly, you pulled yourself up from the bed and made your way over to the door. Opening it slowly, you saw Spencer had changed into a light blue button up with a black sweater vest and royal blue tie with black slacks. You glanced over to the coffee table and saw his go bag sitting on top. Damn it, you forgot he had that.
"What Spencer?" You said.
"I'm sorry for not telling the team about you. I just wasn't ready. I know it's not an acceptable answer but it's true. I felt if I told them about you then more people would know and I'm afraid you're going to be used against me. And...and I don't want to lose you Y/N. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so much," he said.
You hadn't realized it but tears had began to spill from your eyes and Spencer reached over and wiped them away, "I love you too, Spence. Just don't keep me in the dark again."
He nodded, "I promise. Now, can you get changed? I want to make it up for you."
You smiled at him, "Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."
Thirty minutes later, you had changed into a white sundress with tan sandals. You and Spencer had gotten into the car and now were on your way to wherever Spencer had planned to take you. You asked him over and over again where he was taking you but he wouldn't answer you. He'd just spout out random scientific facts about random things.
"Did you know Boeing's microlattice is the lightest metal ever made. It's 99.9 percent air, but still remains structure and could be used to conserve fuel on future planes and vehicles," Spencer said while he keeping his focus on the road.
"Spencer?"
"Yes?"
"Where are we going?" You asked.
"Actually, we're here." Spencer had pulled up to the curb on the side of the road. Right outside was a very small apartment complex with a closed in courtyard. You looked back over at Spencer with a confused look, "You wanted to meet my team right?" Your smile grew and you happily hopped out of the car.
You and Spencer walked up the stairs of the building and before you could even reach the door, a blonde woman with very bright clothing stepped out into the hallway.
"Oh my goodness! You're real! You're actually real!" She squealed as she pulled you into a hug. "Oh baby Spencer is all grown up!"
"Garcia! You can let her go now," Spencer said.
Garcia stepped back but still held onto your arms, "Right, sorry. I'm a hugger."
"So you must be Penelope. Spencer's told me all about you," You said to her.
Before she could reply, a dark skinned man had appeared from behind the doorway, "Babygirl, maybe you should let them into the apartment so the rest of us could meet her."
"Right, right! Of course! Come in! Come in! Welcome to my humble abode."
Walking into Garcia's brightly colored apartment, you were greeted with the rest of Spencer's team. You were so happy to meet them all. JJ, Emily and Penelope had already planned a girls night with you every Saturday night if they weren't away on a case or if you didn't work. Rossi and Hotch has intimidated you at first, but as the night continued on you grew to like them as you finally saw them crack a smile. And Derek Morgan. What else could be said about the playboy Spencer talked so much about.
You were glad to have finally met his team. You already had an amazing boyfriend and now you had more amazing friends
