The whole place had been swarmed down to a scary degree, men and women in cloaks were being escorted away and detained, while only a handful of people were standing in front of a rather short woman that wasn't in a cloak.
Her eyes glowed an inhuman red in the dim lighting of the room, earning concerned looks from the men standing over, and a disgusted one from a woman in a coat that seemed to be their leader.
While the humans looked on, the inhuman woman had a bored face, her ebony young antlers and silvery shimmering hair definitely set her apart from them.
They kept glaring and staring until the inhuman woman spoke in an annoyed voice.
"So, you've burst down the romored hideout, and have detained the mysteeeeeerious Red-eyed Shadow, so what do you want, exactly?"
"What do we want exactly? Do you really think that's a question you can ask, demon?"
It was the woman who spoke, anger lacing her words, and earning a bored look from the demoness.
"I can, and I did. What do you think capturing me would accomplish?" She asked with a clearly mocking tone, her sharp teeth showing as she laughed afterwards.
"I'm a simple demoness who decided to give people hope and nourishment to myself in their presence, what illegal activities might you stop?"
She cocks her head towards the people they're escorting outside, pointing out their sorrowful expressions under the hoods of their cloaks.
"They're just some satanists with their diety visiting every now and again, you really should be putting your effort into stopping something actually problematic."
"So, is draining human souls all that worthless to you? To the point where you don't think of it as a crime?!" The team leader screamed at her, before giving another disgusted statement. "You're not all that ashamed of destroying the lives of all those people from just last week?"
Silence, a blink, and then a quiet bold yet confused answer.
"What.. Do you mean by that?"
"The slaughter from last week damn it, there was a party full of people, and all of them suddenly dropped dead, the man who witnessed it from his home talked about a demon with antlers!"
She tried to grab the demoness' antlers for dramatic expression, but she tilted her head backwards, the woman tried to reach forwards, but got headbutted in the chin with a very blunt and yet strong antler, causing her to rear back and glare at the demoness, who looked irritated rather than scared when guns were pointed at her.
It was actually hard to not notice that the said antler was sliced off, so it caused no actual damage.
"Listen here sweetheart, for one, these antlers aren't for touching, and second off, that demon wasn't me, a clearer description would be much appreciated."
"What do you mean it wasn't you? It was a demon who had antlers, looked human, until suddenly killing off all the people and leaving so casually! And you clearly display the attitude."
At that, she pointed her gun at her, which didn't seem to make the demoness flinch.
The demoness was in a weird metal confiner, something that's clearly meant to keep a shadow in place without letting them through, and yet despite that, she looked calm, annoyed if anything else.
"Your lies can't work against me, demon. You clearly made yourself look smaller so that you won't get shot."
Silence and staring.
"Do you think we're that dumb? That just switching looks and antler size would make you look less dangerous?!"
Silence, a blink, and then anger. A low rumbling growl can be heard as she went from being casually annoyed to the looks of an angry monster ready to strike.
"You've got the wrong demon, Chief."
"What?-"
She was quickly interrupted as the demoness' looks melted, distorted and grew, breaking the metal confiners and shifting into a massive canine that jumped her before she could do anything about it.
The demon was growling still as she asked.
"But I'd definitely like to know where the hell did you stumble upon such a demon."
Although the chief seemed all bark and no bite before, she gave the demon growling on top of her an angry and yet calculated response.
"If you're after that demon too, then we can help you find them, if you let me go right now."
Her officers flinched at the offer and prepared to shoot the monster off their pinned down boss, but surprisingly, the demoness actually shifted back into her human antlered form, keeping her foot on top of the lady for a good minute, clearly still angry.
There was a standoff that seemed to last an eternity, until the demoness stepped off, allowing the chief to get up.
She was looking down onto the chief despite her humanoid form being shorter, but metaphorically speaking, the woman with a gun didn't look like more than a bug to her.
"You can give actual offers, I'll give you that."
It was said through a hiss, as she watched her get up.
Although the chief didn't look scared of the demoness as before, she knew that now she now had something to hold over her head.
"I wouldn't be the DCI's best team leader if I didn't know how to do that."
She got up and dusted herself off, before extending her hand to the demoness, so that the deal would be official.
"Now, do you agree to help us find this demon? We'll help you too in return, as long as you don't kill people under this contract."
Another silent look, the demoness looks her up and down, she's definitely considering her chances and options.
She finally sighed, and took the chief's hand with a very firm shake.
"The strongest emotion that a demon can have is hate, be glad that you're not my target."
