As four high school aged students walked to school memories filled their heads, an angry rumbling of thunder could be heard along with the clap of lightning creeping closer and closer ever so gradually, towards the group.
A girl with waist length bright blue hair was the first to speak upon their departure. "Whoa, does this not bring back memories?" Her voice was full of regret and sadness, and upon further inspection one could clearly hear the guilt she tried to hide.
The two other girls having had been their with the other looked down, the same emotions Sky spoke hidden in their eyes. "It does," The girl who wore large round glasses looked up. "I can't believe- no, I don't want to believe that it's been three years since she went missing." She corrected herself, tears now forming in her eyes. "It's just, I miss her so much y'know." Tears were now streaming down Lavender's face as she stifled or at least attempted to stifle her sobs at remembering what had happened and how Leia's parents didn't give her disappearance a second thought.
The pinkette looked down. "Yeah, it's just-" she sighed "where could she have gone in ten minutes. She-" the girl paused looking at her friends, "Is it just me or, did Leia seam, I dono, off? Like the whole day leading up to right before she disappeared." The two other girls nodded in agreement. "And, if I just hadn't convinced you guys to go hide from her then-"
The blue haired girl cut off the pink haired one, "Enough of that, it was still our decision to go hide from her Camellia. So, stop blaming yourself and look on the bright side. At least we know what kind of parents she had."
"O-okay, sorry Sky."
They walked in silence for a little while letting the exchange set in, each waiting for someone else to break the silence.
They didn't have to wait long tho Sky eventually broke the silence. "Guys, doesn't it feel weird, like something's off? I mean it could just be my longing for adventure but, I don't know." They stood in silence for a moment letting the girls words sink in.Lavender was the first to respond. "I feel it too, kind of like, someone's watching?" She glanced at the others wondering if they felt the tingling sensation one gets when someone is staring at them, but they don't know who.
"Doesn't it feel like it did that day?" Camellia jumped at every sound, even her own voice at first.
"What are you on about- Oh, oh my god, you don't think?"
"Maybe, but it's probably just the storm getting the best of us, right?" She paused the hope in her voice leaving her body, a crazed look grazing her eyes. "NO. No, it can't happen again, I-I won't let it" Camellia took a deep breath attempting to calm the raging beast within.
"I remember Leia constantly telling me that I was too jumpy and to trusting for my own good. But, I should have gone with my gut that day." Sky's voice cracked multiple times while speaking, she looked close to tears too.
"Yeah and she told me I was the most level headed and it made me so proud.
"You know thinking about it I don't think we would be friends if not for her, Leia I mean."Camellia gestured to herself and the people around her.
"I remember when I first met Leia and Sky my plan was to just not ro make friends but Leia said nah, your going to be my friend til the day I die whether you like it or not." Jet laughed at the memory of two year old Leia.
They heard someone behind them scoff, they all whipped around to see Cora Bittersweet a girl with reddish orange hair standing before them. "You know not everyone loved Leia, to most of us she was a vile son of a bitch, because we called her out on her bull shit."
