I heard Erik, my brother's best friend call out as he made his way towards me.
He better not treat me like a baby in front of all my colleagues, they will never let this go, they'll tease me until I'm old. And I had an image to uphold as a NYPD detective. I prayed to God in my mind for him to not call me a tiny rabbit in front of everyone.
'Please don't.' I thought.
He reached me, wrapping me up in a bone crushing hug as I hugged back, lifting me of the floor.
"Put me down, I can't breathe! You're crushing my bones! Bella Swan!" I exclaimed tapping his arm. He gave a million dollar grin and set me down.
"I missed you!" He exclaimed laughing, I smiled back, I wanted to pinch his cheeks but held back as my coworkers were watching the whole exchange.
"You too! What are you doing here?" I asked as his partner, James walked over to join us.
"I'm here for the case, to see if any leads turn up on your investigation on the suspect, we believe it might be the same guy." He finished.
"Ah, okay. Detective Xavier told me the same thing. Come on, they already started the interrogating the witness." I said leading them to where the witness was being questioned.

We ended up working on the case together.
He was from a different team and was handling a different case but we decided to work together as both of our suspects were awfully similar.
My killer who murdered two people while escaping from a robbery and his killer who stabbed a young couple after a different robbery but fortunately they survived as the wounds weren't that life threatening because the thief was in a hurry to escape. The couple managed to give us a face composite.
It turned out our suspicion was right, it was the same guy who robbed a popular jewelry store eight months ago but somehow managed to escape and stay under the radar this long. He won't be getting away this time.
We were done for the day, I was packing my bag when Erik came over to me.
"Ready to leave?" He questioned.
"Yeah, I can't wait to get out of here and go stuff my face with food, delicious delicious food.." I rambled on with a dreamy look on my face before I could stop myself. He just chuckled, he was used to my childish antics by now.
"Why don't you come over? My Mom called us for a family dinner tonight, I'm sure she'd love to see you and stuff your face with delicious, delicious food." He said mimicking me. I shook my head.
