As Yumeko gets ready for her date, she can't help but feel nervous. She had so many worries buzzing around her head: "What if I ruin our friendship?", "Maybe he didn't mean to ask me out, he was looking at someone behind me", "I shouldn't go I'm just making things difficult". However, at that moment she realised that she shouldn't be worried, any guy would be lucky to have her (or any girl hehehe) and was suddenly filled with confidence.

When she heard a knock on the door, all her anxiety came flooding back as she knew who was standing on the other side. Slowly, she walked over to the door and opened it to see a handsome man smiling widely at her, a bouquet in one hand. Ryota Suzui. "Wow, you look so beautiful Yumeko", he said shyly, with a sparkle in his eyes. She smiled back at him and they both took that as a signal to leave the apartment. 

During the car ride to the restaurant, Yumeko talked about her day, and the day before, and the day before that, while Suzui just laughed, nodded and admired her. He had never been talkative, and so just loved to listen to Yumeko's voice.

Suddenly, it started to sound like someone was lightly tapping on the car windows. Yumeko slowly backed away, which caused Suzui to come out of his admiring-Yumeko-mindset and react. He kept his arm around her, before reaching his hand over to the button to open the window. As he was reaching, he grabbed a pocketknife that he always kept in his pocket (do you get it guys, a pocket knife, that he kept in his pocket, no... was that a bad joke lmao) and kept it opened in his hand. As the window rolled down, both of their heart rates rose dramatically and  Yumeko leaned more into his chest. 

Hail, it was hailing. They both laughed at each other and how stupid they had been. Someone tapping on the window? How was that even possible? All of their fear melted away.

The taxi driver suddenly shouted, "who opened the window?", but before either of them could answer, the driver lost control of the car, causing it to crash into a lorry coming the other way. Yumeko, screaming, shut her eyes and covered her face. 

When everything seemed quiet again, she called out for Suzui. After there was no reply, she opened her eyes, only to see that the reason she had survived, and been completely unharmed, was because right before the crash, Suzui had covered her with his body, sacrificing himself for her. 

"no, no, no" Yumeko kept repeating. "H-hospital, we need to get to a hospital". She forced herself to not cry and to stay calm as she knew that was the only way that he could be saved. She tried to be optimistic, even though there he was covered in blood and glass and he didn't seem to show any signs of breathing. She just knew that it couldn't be the end for them. She had to speak to him one more time.

time skip - they are now at the hospital and Suzui has gone into emergency treatment, Yumeko hasn't seen him since the hospital took him

The anxiety made Yumeko feel like she had been in the hospital for years, but it had only been a few hours. She had no idea how Suzui was, whether he was getting better or worse, dead or alive, no one had come to tell her. She decided that instead of overthinking the situation, she would find a distraction, and so decided to go on Wattpad to read a story. She came across a story called "if Yumeko dated people from kakegurui" and read the first chapter only to see that it was about her and Suzui. "haha" she thought "this is so realistic, I wonder how the person who wrote this knew what was going to happen today?".

"Miss Jabami?" someone asked. She looked up and saw a doctor looking back at her. "I have some bad news," he said solemnly. "W-what do you mean?" Yumeko whispered while tears appeared in her eyes. "His heart rate is almost down to zero, we've tried everything we could, but we think it's more painful for him, and he's going to die anyway" he replied. "Can I see him for the last time?" she asked. "Of course, just follow me"

Seeing him laying in a hospital bed was one of Yumeko's worst nightmares, and so while walking to his room, she tried to imagine the worst possible way he could look, so then when she saw him she didn't burst into tears. The doctor signalled for her to go in and she hesitantly opened the door, stepping one foot into the room.

A large "beep" appeared at that very second, and doctors started rushing around saying things like "his heart rate has stabilised", "he's going to wake up in any second", "make sure he has some food".  This just made Yumeko confused, "he was just about to die and now he's back to normal and about to wake up, how did this happen? it must be a miracle!". She ran over to Suzui and kissed him on the forehead. 

When she lifted her face up, she saw his eyes were open and he was smiling at her. 

"SUZUI!" she laughed and hugged him, receiving an "Ow" from him. All of a sudden, her happiness turned to anger. "How could you sacrifice yourself like that Suzui? Do you know how much it would hurt if I lost you?" she told him sternly. "Because I love you," he replied. (literally this story is so cringey WHAT)
