Hi Guys! Thank you so much for reading this. It means a lot for me to finally get my ideas out into the universe that is the internet. Now, I just want to outline a few disclaimers:

1. This is a work in progress. If you notice anything that does not credit the English language, feel free to message me and I will fix it.

2. Any references made to people in real life are PURELY coincidental.

3. If you want to critique this, be my guest. All I ask is you do so unbiasedly.

4. There will be some scenes in this story that may be upsetting to readers who have experienced abuse, mental health issues and violence. However, before any one of these scenes pops up, I will always put a little notice before it that offers the option of skipping over the uncomfortable scene.

That's it. Anyhow, before you start reading, here is a little bit of backstory that helps to explain some of the plot. Keep in mind that you can always skip this and surprise yourself, but if anything starts to not make sense, you can always come back and read this.

Louis Zayne is a mad scientist-turned-billionaire after he figured out how to enhance human genomes. At some point, he came up with the bright idea to create androids that looked exactly like humans. He created them as a solution for the "flaws" in society, namely emotions and pain and obesity and stereotypes and racism and every other problem the human race has ever encountered. However, in the midst of creating these "perfect" robots, he made an error in their code(all androids have the same basic code). The androids developed free thinking and *gasp* emotions. They assimilated perfectly into society, and for years, lived just like humans. (They had a pulse and could breathe and blush and everything). But Zayne was also a gifted hacker, maybe from his mad scientist days. He hacked his own code and created a backup doomsday code, that when activated would turn all androids into war machines. He was essentially doing a trial run by letting the robots remain in society for as long as they did. The day Zayne activated the code, humans later called it Judgement Day. After the androids became violent, they started capturing humans and turning them into androids. These new 'robots' were called humanoids.

There are two types of humanoids: One type looks entirely like an android with a bioengineered suit that self-destructs if removed, and these still have human brains and emotions, but they can't show it because of the suit's wiring (it blows up if they act like humans at all). The second type is one that looks entirely like a human, but they have a chip implanted in their brain that influences all their thoughts (like if your brain said go left the chip would say go right and you would go right). All the chips also have the exact same coding. The two main characters, Spencer and Adlyn are both humanoids. Spencer is a Type 1 humanoid, Adlyn is Type 2. The humanoids have two options: They can be turned completely into androids, or they can use android tech to become humans. Type 2 humanoids have the ability to read and manipulate minds. Type 1 humanoids are essentially self-destructing androids (and androids have a bunch of powers of their own, like superspeed, flight, extreme flexibility for females, enhanced combat skills, the full caboodle) with a human brain and emotions.

Judgement day happened on Adlyn's sixteenth birthday, and she loses her memory for a month after. When she wakes up, she is with this group of people called the Lost Men, and they are people who've escaped the androids, but with severe consequences. During the time that Adlyn can't remember, she was implanted with the chip that turned her into a humanoid, which is why she is able to completely shut off her emotions, or just her brain in general. But Adlyn in different from the other Type 2's.

Spencer is a bit of a special case as well. He can only remember being a humanoid, which he's only been for a few months. Although everything changes after he meets Adlyn.

So that's basically it for the backstory. But I'm not gonna lie when I say that I held some stuff back... hopefully y'all like surprises!

Have fun! Make me smile by commenting and don't forget to click that star!
