01. The Engagement Party
💍My father helped me get out of the car as my mother was fixing herself when she got out and before I knew it, paparazzi started flashing their cameras at me and started to ask me a bunch of questions like there is no tomorrow.
I just ignored all of them as my father closed the car door behind me and held out his arm for me and mother so he could escort us to the large building that stood before us. I snaked my arm around his and walked to the building.
"I'm glad that you're doing this, Cheon Yoon." My father said as we were walking.
"It was grandmother's dying wish, so I had no choice. And, plus we already announced this arranged marriage, so there is no backing out." I said in a monotone voice. He didn't say anything after that because he knows that's the truth.
"Where's Hana, mother? Isn't she supposed to be here?" I said, changing the subject.
"Yes, of course, she wouldn't want to miss her little sister's engagement party." She replied calmly.
We entered the building without saying word to each other after the small conversation we just had. I removed my arm from his and looked around in awe as I was taking in the well-designed room. There was a huge chandelier in the middle of the room and the way illuminated the room was stunning!
Before I could finish my thoughts, mother cleared his throat, so she could get my attention.
"Hmm?" I hummed, waiting for her response.
"You should go and try to find your fiancé, you know try to get to know him." I nodded in response, even though I didn't want to, and started to wonder around the room.
As I was walking, I couldn't take my eyes off on how this place looks so luxurious and expensive. I mean, my father did own one of the biggest companies in all of South Korea, but I never thought of my father's money as my money. My father always said it was okay for me to use his money, but I just had a grudge against and I didn't know why. I guess it's because I just don't want to be like one of those spoiled-rich girls.
When my father got the memo, he bought me a building on my birthday and said and I quote," You could start your dream job as an interior designer in this very building." I told him that he could keep his building, but he insisted so much to the point that I couldn't say no anymore.
My company started to build up since my father would always recommend me to his colleagues whenever they brought up the topic of redecorating. So, yeah. Now, I'm known as the best interior designer in all of Seoul and Bus--
SLAM!
My butt broke my fall and before I process on what just happened, a voice, too familiar, spoke up.
"Have you ever heard the saying, sis, look both ways before crossing me?" Hana snickered, as she held out her hand for me to take.
"Ha. Ha. " I replied as I took her hand. She pulled me up and dusted imaginary dust off of me.
"How are you, Yoonie?" She said in a childish voice as she pinched my right cheek really hard.
"Yah! That hurts!" I yelled as I swatted my hands in front of her,so she could let go.
"Okay, okay." Hana put both hands up as a sign of surrendering.
"I'm fine, but not with this." I gestured around me.
"I know, but she wanted you to get married to him. It was halmeoni's last wish." She sighed heavily. I just hummed, not wanting to talk about it anymore.
