Dr Fiona McClain sat motionless staring at the dead bodies of her friends; she was shaking with grief anger and guilt. She should have been here to help, but what was the point probably if she had been here Fiona would have just died along side them. Her eyes were full of tears and her mind flooded with half dreams. In the distance she could hear voices shouting, screaming and chaos, and then the sound of a gunshot echoing across the wooded terrain. For a moment she held her breath, her body filled with anger and rage, voices are getting closer Fiona knows she must stay calm, quietly she moves to find her Bergen, the gps and a rifle some munitions its time to move quickly slowly she enters the green and darkness of the forest. Every step is agonizing her mind blank with apprehension and fear.

Kala has lived alone ever since her parents had disappeared on one very bleak and stormy November night. She has a photo of them tucked inside her top left hand pocket of her blouse; she takes the picture out when things get really bad. Sometimes she will stand alone and stare motionless at the sky and try hard to remember what both of them looked like, how they had their hair cut facial expressions and how they smiled. Kala called this the sometimes dream, it could happen at anytime, in the low sunshine of spring or the coldest of winter nights. She looks out the window her recollections and space time intertwined kala drinks the rest of her black coffee then lights up the half smoked cigarette, at one point in her life she had managed to stop. But for now they make her relaxed, the sun is starting to set and the gentle breeze which has been there all day is starting to settle for the night. Kala knows what to do, time to tidy up before the darkness comes, and with it uncertainty and loose dream of some kind of normality, she gives a slight smile.

Sometimes at night kala would lay thinking what actually happened to her parents, if they were involved in a crash, did they die quickly or did they suffer her mind was haunted with violent and vivid imagery and feelings.

Fiona had just spent the first night out side of the containment area, it was terrifying she heard sounds in the darkness she hadn't heard before worrying sounds, confused she just sat with her back to a large oak tree, shivering with cold and a fear of what might come, Fiona occasionally looked at the gps screen to get some kind of comfort from its soft warm glow.

Kala had her own routine, both of her parents had drummed it into her, once you were up dressed and cleaned your teeth, you started by making a fresh pot of coffee made sure that the hen were ok, see how many eggs they had laid if any, after breakfast, check the traps for predators make sure that their wasn't any holes in the perimeter fence. The post she help her dad to build and once were painted white with red stripes, the paint was already starting to flake and fade with time green moss had settled in along time ago a slow decay. When night comes kala retreats to the attic for safety reasons, especially when you're sleeping, her thoughts at times are uneven and nightmarish ,sleeping can be hard on your own ,laying there listening to sounds of the unsettled and the intimidating feeling that came alive with it. She hopes that one day someone will visit her farmhouse, kala tries to think about what type of conversation they might have and what words she would use. It is hard to imagine how long it was since she had spoken to anyone. The only real friend she had at the moment was a balloon man she had painted on the kitchen wall; she can't remember what name she had given him if any at all. She tries to visualise what city, town or part of the country they are from. And other times she to revisit her past and the last conversation she had with her parents, kala can just about remember what was said that both of them loved her very much and always would no matter what happened it was a sombre moment and remember of the terrible things that had happened.

It would have been mid summer when all three of them moved permanently to the farmhouse ,it seemed just like yesterday this all had happened those were the good times just before things deteriorated to a point no one knew what was really happening at all.
