I get out of the taxi and lift my hands up to cover the overwhelming sunlight. I look through my bag and bring out sunglasses to shade the sunny day. I look at my surrounding and look at my watch.
11:23 AM
The informant should be there by now. I head towards the entrance of the hotel and head towards the elevator. By 11:30, there will be an informant at the 23rd floor.
I head towards the elevator and head towards the restaurant in the hotel. As I go in through the glass doors, I look around for my informant. On the right side on the balcony part of the restaurant, I spotted my informant.
I smile at the familiar face as he points towards the empty seat in front of him and a full glass of red wine. I walk to my informant. An Mexican man in his late 40s but is still in good shape. Francis Guiterrez, he had dark brown eyes, jet black hair with a few white strands, and caramel skin. He was wearing a black polo shirt and white formal shorts.
"Finally embracing the effects of time Francis?" I say as I eye his white strands, he gestured to my seat and chuckle
"We can't really hide it anymore can we?" Francis says, as I take a seat and stir my wine glass
"Give me the tea" I say as I give him my usually blank expression. He smiles and grabs an envelope and slides it across to me. I open the envelope and find 2 profiles.
Ning Meng, a 63 year old manager at an jewelry shop in Changchun, China. The jewelry shop he works in is called Wang Jewelry. He has white hair, dark brown eyes with deep eye bags, a button nose, a wrinkly face, and thin lips.
The next profile is Lewei Meng, the son. He has similar features to Ning but he has a more triangular head shape and has hazel brown eyes instead of Ning's dark brown ones. He was 36 years old and the head security at the same jewelry shop his father was working in.
"2 weeks ago his jewelry shop was robbed. A blue diamond set and a black pearl set were stolen" He starts as I put the profile back in the envelope
"The Jewelry shop seems local so it probably didn't cost ahead of 50,000 dollars" I say as he smiles
"The jewelry shop has a White diamond worth 5 million dollars in a room that's connected to the managers office" He says as I raise my left eyebrow
"It wasn't stolen?" I ask and Francis shakes his head 'no'. Why would you steal something so cheap when there was a big time stone just at the back of the store. Unless.
"Then they were amateur robbers" I say. That's the only reason why they couldn't steal it. And how was this related to my mission?
"Nope, face recognition shows Lewis shad for a few seconds in the driver seat in their escape vehicle" he says as my eyes widen in shock
"Then that means Donatello and his team stole it? Why? They've been off the grid for the last 4 years" I say. The last time we saw them, I killed two of his men which distracted me from Donatello and he escaped.
"Intel tells me that they stole the White diamond and replaced it with a fake one" he says as I lean back
"How are these two profiles part?" I say trying to get to the point.
"These two are part of their scheme" he says.
"how?" I ask as I take a sip of the wine
"In the tape, it shows the robbers pointing at Ning and Lewei who have their hands up and back against the wall. They take Lewei to the security room and the footage cuts there." He says as he puts his hand around his wine glass.
