"Alright, lets recap a bit, shall we? You were admitted here for what appears to be an intensely vivid episode of psychosis, though, you believe this to be real, correct?"

"Yeah! Or, I guess so. All I know is that I know it was real."

"Riiight, moving on. This ... "episode" ... of yours, you described it as you leaking this black tar-like substance from your mouth and other orifices?"

"I ... think so? By the way, what's an orifices?"

"Anyhow, to spite this rather violent sounding episode, not to mention clear signs of insomnia and you reporting no significant changes in mental state with the newly prescribed medication, you do seem to be of sound mind"

"well, yeah! Of course, I'm not crazy. At least, I don't think I am? I don't know, I've always been a weird kid, so I've been told. A good kid, but just kinda off according to my peers."

"Yes, well, these circumstances are indeed ... peculiar. Nevertheless, you are of sufficient mental stability to be released, Mister?"

"Papaya! My friends call me, Papaya. Though you may think I'm still missing a few marbles, thank you so much doctor! See ya!"

Alrighty then! Out of that place, finally. Those were the longest four days of my life, especially since I don't tend to sleep easy. Really hope my roommate isn't too worried, yeah, she knows where I was, but still, I hate to make her worry. Then again, I'd rather her worry then my folks, thank goodness they don't know I was gone.

"Hey dude! I'm home!"

"fuckin finally! Welcome back, Icarus!"

"Can you stop calling me that? I mean, you'd be this desperate too if you couldn't sleep"

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Lighten up, kiddo, I think I found the answer we've been lookin for!"

"Seriously? And how many times have I heard that?"

"hmmmmmmmm, only a good twenty-four. No really, I think I actually got a good lead on this one."

"Uggghhhhh ... tell me about it after I try, and fail, to take a cat nap"

"Oooook then, I guess I should throw out all the research I've found on a little old think called a ... 'Nightmare Demon'."

"What! NO WAY!!"

Yeah, I was that exited. After years and years of nothing but false leads, and bitter hopes, it seemed like something with answers. Was I right for thinking that, hell yeah! But I wish it were only that simple.

"yes sir! 'Nightmare Demons' or at least that's the modern English translation from the original 'Diablo de la Noche' or 'Devil of the night'. Anyway, they are human-like beings that would do ... something to people. The text is not very clear, but whatever they did, the people who lived to tell the tale of these things, well, they were pretty fucked in the head."

"This is it! I know it is!"

I was so excited. This is what I was looking for all my life, I could feel it in my bones. Then, somehow, in some strange way, I felt this feeling of discovery calling me – A destiny, my destiny.

"I'll be back! Don't wait up!"

"Wait? What? Where are you going?"

I didn't stop to answer her questions, I just ran, I ran towards fate – my fate – my destiny. I made it to downtown – the urban area of my home county. Its Midnight, damn, it was pretty scary, and yet, calming. I didn't know what I was looking for, but I knew I would find it here. After wondering – following the sound of my heartbeat, I found it, or him, rather. Across the street, atop a pizzeria, I could make out his silhouette in the moon light. He had long hair, piercing gold cat-like eyes, and a menacing yet calming aura to him.

"It's you – you're my destiny!"
