Drenched in the snow, Windfrost cuddled her three newborn kits. The three kits had been born during the cold and chilly leaf-bare. It was a harsh leaf-bare that year. Warriors found it difficult to catch prey, for all the animals were snuggled together in their secret burrows or nests. The white pile of coldness reached to the top of their legs.

Whitekit shivered and squeaked, "Im cold, Windfrost." Windfrost licked the small kit's pelt with her tongue, "I'll keep you warm."

Whitekit stretched, snuggling close to Windfrost, and hit her brother with her hind legs. She would have expected to hear a meow from Leafkit, but she heard nothing. There was only silence. Whitekit opened her eyes and tapped Leafkit with her tail. Leafkit didnt move a single tail-length. Thinking Leafkit was just in a deep sleep, she tried tapping Leafkit again. Still, Leafkit didn't move.

"Windfrost! Leafkit wont move!" she cried. Alarmed, Windfrost put her ear to the small pelt. She jolted back as the cold hit her ear. Leafkit felt ice cold and wasn't breathing. "Noo! Leafkit! Leafkit please wake up!" the she-cat cried.

Embertail woke up from all the racket and starred at the she-cat. "What's wrong Windfrost?" she asked worriedly.

"Leafkit wont wake up!" she cried to the queen sitting in the nest next to her.

Annoyed by all the noise, Mapplekit sat up and squeaked, "Why's it so noisy? Im tired!"

"Yes, I know." Windfrost replied quietly, hushing the kit.

The nursery was beginning to become very loud. Curious, Spottedstar padded over to where the queens were fussing. "Is something wrong?" he asked poking his head in the den.

"Leafkit wont wake up!" Windfrost cried to her leader.

"I'll get Silverfeather," he said, calmly padding towards the medicine cat den.

A/N: How was it? （＾∇＾）hopefully it wasn't too bad. XD I wrote this awhile ago, but I decided to rewrite a few things now that my writing has improved. :) I hope to see you in the next chapters!
