As Lucrezia sat in the car her head turned every which way as she gazed at her new tropical home. From her vantage point in the backseat, she could see all the colorful plumage as well as the hot sun beating down on them. They were still inland a bit to see the ocean or the beach, but from what she was seeing now she could easily fall in love with this Caribbean paradise. Having landed around twenty minutes ago, they were now on their way to the beach house that she would call home. Turning towards her brother, she let out a small giggle. "Isn't this island just beautiful, Chez?"
With his head lying back on the seat and his eyes closed, Cesare murmured a small sound. "Mmmhmm." That's when he felt a slight shove on his shoulder. "Ow! What was that for?" His eyes snapped open to see a bemused look on his sister's face.
"How can you tell if it's beautiful or not when your eyes are closed?" she pointed out.
Suddenly he burst out laughing. "Ok ok you've got me. I was just taking a little nap. Not all of us got to take a four hour nap on the plane." When he saw Lucrezia's eyes grow wide he quickly gave her a soft kiss on the cheek and grinned. "I love you."
Instantly her face melted into a gentle look as she leaned against him. "I love you too. I guess I'm just excited about reaching the beach house. It's like having my own house for a little while. No Mama and Papa around to tell me what to do. Just me."
"Have you forgotten that I will be there?" Cesare asked dryly as he nudged her.
Giving him a look out of the corner of her eye, she smirked at him. "Trust me, I could nor would never forget that you're at my side, silly." she playfully retorted. Taking his hand she laced their fingers together. "Then I take it back. It's our house. We can do what we want. No one can tell us what to do. We can stay up all night and sleep in all day." Lucrezia laughed.
"Oh no, you're not sleeping in all day lazy bones!" Cesare shook his head. He tried to put his foot down be they both knew all she had to do was pout or flash those pretty eyes at him and he'd be a goner. He was wrapped around her finger and had been since her birth.
"Sir and Miss, we are here." Micheletto spoke from the driver's seat. He quickly put the car in park and made his way to the left side backseat door to open it for them.
Lucrezia made a little squeak and gave Cesare another kiss on the cheek before she scrambled out of the car. "Thank you Micheletto!"
"You're welcome Miss." Micheletto nodded his head in respect to her.
Cesare followed her and nodded to Micheletto. "Thanks again for everything. First thing I want you to do, and I know it sounds like I'm paranoid, but I want you to search the house. Make sure it's safe. Then we'll go inside."
"Not paranoid at all Sir. I'll do that right away." Micheletto nodded his head and headed towards the house.
Lucrezia first noticed a stone pathway that led up to a two story pink and white colored beach house. She went to walk up the path when her arm was gently grabbed and she looked back. "What's the matter, Chez?"
"Let Mikey search the house first. I want to make sure it's safe. You and I can go look at the private beach while we wait." His hand slid from her arm to take her hand as their fingers laced together.
Lucrezia beamed as she nodded her head. "Ok, I can't wait!" She walked with him along the stone pathway as it let up to the house. There was an ornate wooden door and a screen door that led into the house with a huge front porch that was the length of the entire house. The porch wrapped around the side of the house to the back of the house as well. The two of them stepped up to the porch and walked around the house to the back. That's when Lucrezia got her very first view of the Caribbean Ocean. "Cesare! It's beautiful!"
