There is a legend that has been told for centuries. That legend is told by the parents when their kids are little and it's usually told as a storybook to make them fall asleep. When you get older, you keep hearing that story, and then you learn that it's actually a legend. You hear it in your house, school, and mall, practically everywhere. Some people choose to believe the legend is true even though it hasn't happened to them and others, like me, choose to ignore it because it's just that... a legend.
The legend tells that when you find your soul mate, your world lights up. I'm not saying that it lights up because a white bright light comes out of nowhere and blinds you. No, it means the world around you actually lights up with colors... no more looking at a tree grey, the sky isn't black anymore. Everything has its color and according to the legend, it's the most beautiful thing ever. You find your soul mate and you get to see the world in its bright and breathtaking colors.
I'm currently seventeen years old and I've only heard one couple talk about how true the legend is. They always see the world in a unique way, like it's the first time they're actually seeing. It's quite funny how they react sometimes.
There are names of colors and in our school, they teach us those names, even though most of those colors seem the same to me. They were just different shades of black, grey and white. After ten minutes of that lesson I was already bored. The names they have chosen for the colors were weird to say too, I mean blue... really? What kind of name is blue?
"Janice! Please you'll be late," My aunt screamed from downstairs
I rolled my eyes and looked at myself one last time before going down. When I reached downstairs, my aunt was at the kitchen with her son "Why isn't he ready then?" I asked, grabbing an apple
"Because, dear cousin, I can get ready in two minutes, you on the other hand, take an eternity" Stefan said
"Oh why won't you look at the time," I said looking at my watch "It's time for me to not care," I then smiled sweetly at him
He shot me a glare and was about to say something but aunt Carol interrupted "Janice, stop it with your comments"
Stefan smiled widely and I rolled my eyes, "whatever," I mumbled and grabbed the car keys from the counter "Gotta go, otherwise I'll be late" I said sarcastically towards my aunt
When Stefan heard me say those words, he stood up from the chair instantly and ran upstairs while shouting "Don't leave without me!"
And unfortunately for him, I left.
When I reached the infamous Rowell High School, I stepped out of the car. At the moment I slammed the door shut, the bell rang. I smiled and kept walking as if the bell meant nothing. At my left corner I saw my best friend Violet. She was sitting at the hood of a car flirting with the quarterback.
When she saw me, she quickly pushed the quarterback away and got off the hood and ran towards me "Janice!" Then she tackled me to the floor
I always seem to forget she's on the hockey team and that she's very strong.
"Violet, get off me," We laughed and she got off me
We stood up and she hugged me properly "Ugh, I missed you. Can you believe it? We're finally seniors," she said excited
I rearranged the strap of my bag and began walking "It's not that exciting Vi," I said
"Uh, yes it is Janice, it means parties, being drunk and dating," she opened the entrance doors
