Prompt: So, you know how at the end of "Million Reasons", Reba keeps in touch with (y/n)? What if (y/n) gets a record deal with Reba's label and moves to Nashville, staying in a hotel until she finds a place to live? Then as she walks down the street, she quite literally bumps into Reba and the story goes from there.
"And...done. Whew!"
It had been a long day. Actually, it was only the afternoon, but [Y/N] started out early that morning. All of her things were packed and put into a storage unit except for her essentials. She'd just settled down after moving every one of her belongings.
"A new start is always good. Maybe I'll freshen up and head into town for a bit." she thought aloud to herself before grabbing her toiletries and heading to the bathroom in her hotel. Yes. A hotel.
She was offered a record deal in Nashville and signed the paperwork a few weeks ago. Now she was set to start recording one of the first tracks on her new album...but she didn't live in Nashville.
After some quick thinking, she made the hasty decision to move and stay in a hotel. Just until she could find the right home...and afford a home. For now, she would do a few small gigs to pay for her hotel until the money from her album began to come in.
"New start, new city..." was all [Y/N] could think as she dried off and dressed in a shirt and a pair of capris. Once she was finished getting ready she grabbed her phone, purse, and keys before heading out the door.
She glanced down at her phone as she walked down the street, others passing her by. She wanted to look up the best place to find some food to buy for dinner. Unbeknownst to her, she bumped into someone in front of her.
"Oh no! I'm so-...!"
"[Y/N]?!" a familiar voice happily exclaimed. "What are you doing here?!"
There staring back at her with elation was Reba.
"No way! How is it that we run into each other?! I was going to surprise you!" [Y/N] chuckled and gave her a hug.
"Are you here visiting?" Reba asked after returning her hug.
"I...actually live here now." she smiled. "I was signed a few weeks ago to a record company and they really wanted me here. I moved as soon as I could."
"Sweetie that's wonderful!" Reba beamed. "Where do you live? Somewhere close by?"
[Y/N] pointed down the way to the hotel she was currently in.
"You're saying there...?" Reba asked with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"It's just until I can make enough money to actually buy a house though. It won't be so bad."
"No way. There is no way I'm letting my good friend stay in a hotel. Of all places!"
"You've helped me so much already Reba. Remember a few years back?"
Reba chuckled as she fondly remembered their first meeting. "You were very silent those first few minutes." she teased.
"Very funny." [Y/N] laughed, remembering that she was, in fact, passed out when they first met.
"Look, it's no trouble. Why don't you check out of that old hotel and come stay with me? I've got plenty of room. Believe me."
"I couldn't...I mean..."
"I won't take no for an answer..." Reba sing-songed as she smiled even more.
"I-...well-..." [Y/N] sighed and shook her head. "You've twisted my arm...I'll stay."
