I step out of the taxi to see my aunt's house. While all my belongings are left on the road. Then the taxi drives off without another word. While being very large only her and a few other kids live here. It's been a long time since I saw my aunt in person. I missed her I just wished it was in better circumstances. My aunt walks out of my new home and quickly shuffles towards me.
"Nev! I've missed you so much. You have grown so much." She embraces me with a hug. She squeals as she lets go. Even though it's been so long since I saw my aunt I could tell that she hadn't changed from the last time we met. She makes everything seem more fun. She still wears those army boots with flowers embroidered onto them. And with a colorful fluffy pixie cut. It's sad to think she is the last family I have. But I wouldn't pick anyone else if I had the choice.
"You're looking good as ever Auntie," I say looking at my aunt. Who reminds me so much of my mom. A stray tear falls down my face.
"Nev that better be a happy tear." My Aunt tries to say stern but also sniffles at.
"Happy tears. I'm glad I got to stay with you."
"Me too sweetie." she hugs me again.
"However you must meet your housemates. Id say kids but they all eat like giants ." She whispers the last part to me. This makes me laugh at her comment. We both stand there laughing till we hear a crash from indoors. My auntie sighs while laughing
"I hope it was nothing too valuable," I say trying not to laugh at the face my Aunt just made.
"Don't you worry about that now. Let's go inside they baked oatmeal cookies," she says as she picks up my suitcase. I pick up my other bag full of everything left from the fire. Things like family photos, jewelry, and things that were had some meaning I kept. Even if they are fragile. It reminds me of home.
I walk into the front door and the smell of oatmeal cookies hits me.
"Smells nice doesn't it." I nod to answer to my Aunt.
"Lily! Where is the sugar?" Ask a girl from the kitchen.
"Same cupboard with the sweets." My Aunt calls back.
I look at my Aunts house. It's brilliant. Colorful and mad. With statues of animal giraffe and hippopotamus on all the furniture. Just little trinkets from all the places my Aunt traveled with my Uncle. Who passed when I was 11. But she keeps on smiling. And going on amazing adventures.
"Follow me. I want to know if you like your room!" My aunt says getting really excited. I follow her up the stairs and after 3 doors we find my room. I walk in with a large smile on my face. Led lights are stuck in strips on my ceiling in parallel rows. Yet a thin piece of cloth is placed over the whole ceiling to dim the lighting effect. It's a peachy orange. A double bed as in the corner straight on from the door. With a sunflower bedspread. A large window on the opposite wall from the bed. With a dark oak vanity with a mirror attached to the base. It had 3 draws on either side. With a nice chair with that's matches. covered in a fluffy rainbow blanket. A rug that perfectly covers the floor. A chest of drawn next to the window. That matches all my other furniture. A bedside table with a moonlight placed on a wooden frame. On the large window sill are plants and herbs.
"Auntie I love it!" I say as I place my bag on my new bed.
"Later on we will go to home depo and get more decorations if you want to."
"Yes please, I always need new pillows," I say. Going through my bag. I find a photograph in a frame. Of my family before the fire.
"Youll like it here." My aunt says rubbing my shoulder while we both stare at the photo.
"I have a feeling I will."
"Well let's go meet everyone." My aunt grabs a hold of my hand and leads me down the stairs to the kitchen. I walk in the kitchen and I'm amazed. A massive table inside the kitchen with pink cupboards. The oven on a little island. The rest of the cabinets in an L shape around the corner of the house. This leads to a conservatory full of many herbs and plants.
"Nev I want you to meet my foster kids. Riley. Ava. Aaron and Mike." She points to four kids all hovering around the oven. They all look up from the stove their eyes peering. One fully stands up.
"Hi. I'm Ava." she sticks out her hand for me. I shake it. The girl is tall and slim with strawberry blond hair. She is in short denim shorts and a dark green turtle neck one suit that has no sleeves.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Nevada. Most people call me Nev.""I'm Mike."A shy tall boy who has short brown curly hair that covers his eyes. He is in a gray jacket that cuts off at his belly. He has blue jeans and checkered vans. He has rubber bands on both his wrists. I can't see what it says but I love his aesthetic.
"I like your jacket." To try and calm his very obvious nervousness. He smiles and reaches out his hand for my to fist bump. I do so and a big goofy grin appears on his face.
"I'm Aaron this is my twin sister Riley." A guy says with dark brown eyes and dusty blond hair the girl has exactly the same, dusty hair and brown eyes. Is just a little shorter Aaron is in jeans with chains attached from his one pocket to another. A red v neck top and black converses. However, Riley is in an orange summer dress but has a black long flung over her shoulders jacket over her.
"Nice to meet you all," I say giving them a small smile.
"All right kiddos let tuck in." Mike quickly scamper to grab a seat at the table. I sit next to Mike and I notice one of his wristbands is about Hunger Games and Divergent.
"Hunger games is the bomb," I say doing the 3 fingered salute to Mike. He does it back. I then listen to Ava and Riley's thoughts on Doctor who. Discussing who was the best looking Doctors, me and Riley agree that Matt Smith wins all the way. We spend the rest of the evening talking about everything about ourselves.
