------------------------------------------------------
Rainy days have always been notorious for being boring. Unfortunately, the same was still true even this far in the future, where the rain is acidic enough to burn you and so poisonous that drinking it will cause your entire organ system to fail immediately and totally.
Finland was sitting by the window and staring out, watching this very same rain fall in fat, fast drops. The sunlight had long since been swallowed up by gray clouds, and the rainbow had vanished along with it.
'It's very... misleading' he decided as he watched the acid plummet from the skies. 'It looks so harmless, but it's deadly and painful.' A short little snort escaped him before he could reel it in. 'A little bit like me! Ha ha...'
"Vhat is so funny?" Lili inquired from where she was slowly rocking back and forth in her chair. There really was almost nothing at all to do inside the dirty little hovel they were temporarily calling "home." The boredom she felt was apparent on her face.
"Nothing," Tino answered easily. "I just had a thought."
But his thoughts tended to wander, and in this instant they wandered to the people he was missing currently. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland; how were they all doing? Did they know about his grounding yet, or were they confident that he was still flying around the world and searching for missing nations? They were almost halfway around the world from his current position, and they probably had no idea about what was going on. 'We were supposed to check in via the radio yesterday...
'Sve will probably be very worried, but he won't show it to anyone' Finland assumed morosely. 'I wish there was a way that I could contact him and tell him that I'm alright. Oh, and Switzerland will be very mad with me, too. It would be nice to let him know that his little sister is safe.
'I'm sorry, everyone. I'm stuck here until I can figure out a way to get back in the air...'
"How does your leg feel, Lili?" Tino inquired to take his mind off of his current woes.
Liechtenstein took a gander at the splint that was keeping her broken bone from healing crookedly. "It is alright for now. Danke for asking, Mr. Finland."
"It doesn't hurt?" He just wanted to make certain that it was healing up correctly.
"No, it feels normal, I suppose. I am sure I vill heal up qvickly tanks to you." Her smile was bright and girlish.
"I hope so," he replied, and went back to looking out at the gray world he, Liechtenstein, Oregon, and China were all trapped in.
'I want to succeed in bringing Oregon and China to Norway with us' Finland thought with his eyes closed. 'There must be some way to make that happen... I just have to figure it out. It's not impossible, is it? No... Anything is possible if magic is real--'
"Ah-ha!" Tino yelped when an idea struck him like a bolt of lightning from Zeus's own hand. Liechtenstein reflexively gripped the arm rests of her chair and stared at him, and the two children looked up from their game of Hangman. "That's it!"
"What's 'it?'" Alice asked him curiously.
"I know how we can get out of here!" he exclaimed excitedly. His face was practically glowing with happiness toward the ingenius thoughts rolling around inside of his head. "We'll use magic to leave here!"
