Beth and Cal

The meadow

It was a sunny afternoon in Pinefall where all is quiet in the woods of Springhope and two girls by the name of Bethany and Callie were sitting in the meadows doing each others hair and making jokes all day until the sun set and the clouds became dark then it was time to go home though the girls had gotten home a little later then expected and their mom asked "where have you two been did you get lost?" Bethany replied "mom we've lived in these woods all our lives we always can get back to the village not that it's hard to see a village in the middle of the woods but we helped Mr. Sans carry his stuff home you know that he's lazy" Callie chimed in "But he has SANSational humor" everyone in the room starts laughing at the pun then Callie adds "and then I told him we were at his Beth and Cal" Beth and Cal's mom continues laughing but Bethany stops immediately and so does Callie realizing what she said Bethany says "Cal we haven't said that since dad left" Callie nods and says "I know Beth sorry" when their mom stops laughing she says "well you two to upstairs and I'll call you down when dinner is ready" both girls reply "yes ma'am" and run up the stairs where they play around and sing until their mom yells up the stairs "girls dinner is done" they run down the stairs and sit at the table while the food is put on the table the girls begin to eat when their mom says " so tomorrow is you two's eighteenth birthday and your father says that he'll be coming this year" Beth dropped her spoon and looked at her mom "really like he said last year and the year before that and that he's changed and wants to start a new relationship with us?" Beths mom looks at her and says " Beth that's not how you speak of your father" Beth snaps back " Father? you mean the man that left me , Cal, and you behind while me and Cal were four? that man is not my father" Beth's mom yells "GO TO YOUR ROOM BETHANY WORLDCALL RIGHT NOW" Bethany gets up from the table and runs up the stairs while Callie calmly says "87" Callie's replies confused "what" Callie's tone turns cold "87 times this year she's been upset that's more then twice the amount last year now if you excuse me I have a sister to go cheer up" Callie gets up to leave and just as she's gets to the stairs she looks back at her mother "oh and drop the facade cuz you and I both know he's not coming home" Callie turns back around and rushes up the stairs to the sobbing Bethany and starts to comfort her until she falls asleep then later that night Beth starts tossing and turning on Callie's lap while she starts mumbling words of pain and sadness until she's awoken by Callie who holds her close and whispers "it's only a dream Beth it's only a dream" Beth looks up at the extremely tired Callie and says " have you been awake all night" Callie looks away and replies "don't worry about it Beth I'm fine now tell me what your dream was about" Beth frowns and starts to tear up "it's the meadow it was burned down by the outsiders" Callie looks at her and says calmly " how about me and you go check out the meadow and we can watch the sunrise from there too" Beth smiles and hugs Callie and says "I would like that now let's go" both girls sneak out the window and head towards the meadow when they start to hear the sound of crackling and the smell of smoke starts filling the air then they start seeing the glow of orange and Beth fell on her knees and starting crying as they saw the meadow that they had played in since they were children become a charred piece of land
