"Graham..." Conner breathed out. I could see him straighten his posture from the corner of my eye.
The first eyes the man met were mine. They flickered over, longlashes fluttering with the motion. Cautious, sharp silver eyes that took in every part of me and spat me back out just to take me in again. My calves tightened, and I could feel myself twitch. The instinct to run was taking over. His eyes narrowed the longer he stared, as if he thought he saw something weird about me. Maybe it was the blood? But he might be a vampire right? So he probably likes it, huh?
Or...Or he might be human..I can't really tell...
This man was unnaturally beautiful. Deadly handsome. And if I'm assuming right, he's probably literally deadly.
A flash from earlier came to mind, when Conner and that other guy practically teleported in front of me. Mouths open like a shark jumping out of water to eat a bird...
And I was that bird.
If Jewel hadn't stopped them...
....I would've...
I tightened the grip I had on myself. I don't have nails but the way I gripped myself, I could feel what little stumps I had, digging into my skin.
Why were we still here?
Aren't we going back for Mom?
And the idea of living in a house with a bunch of people who eat humans isn't exactly smart when you happen to be one. Though Jewel doesn't have anything to worry about in that department I guess....
He seems intent on protecting me though, or atleast standing up for me. I would hope so. I would like to think so. I can't imagine what the hell I'd do without him. With all these mythical creatures--or atleast they used to be mythical, now they are real, so, so real-- that keep showing up, I don't think I'd survive the night.
When the man finally looked away from me and turned his attention to Jewel, he let out a dry laugh immediately. Jewel scoffed at this, a piece of his fiery bangs falling over his eyes. Jewel's reaction envoked another laugh from the man.
The man turned to look back at Conner. "Who're our guests, Conner?" His voice came out icy sharp, although his face gave away subtle amusement.
"They're-"
"I am capable of speaking for myself." Jewel spat before Conner could even get a word out. "I am Jewel," he gestured a hand in my direction after letting the sound of his name ring around the room. Pause for dramatic effect...? "And this is Kassidy."
"And is she not capable of speaking for herself?" The man said in a mocking tone.
"No." Jewel growled, his eyes narrowing with a twitch of his lip."Are you?"
I'm slightly offended.
Only Slightly.
Honestly, I do prefer he do the talking. He seems to know a lot more about what's happening then I do, and honestly, I don't even think I could speak if I tried. There's a lump in my throat and it tastes a whole lot like fear.
"I am," he said with a tilt of his head and a mocking bow, "Graham." His eyes flicked to me and then back to Jewel."Now that introductions are done--" Graham finally stepped fully into the doorway, and slammed the door shut behind himself. The echo filled the quieted room with such a sudden wave of tension that I reflexively reached for the hem of Jewel's shirt. Jewel's eyes flicked to me, looking down his nose with an expresssion on his face I couldn't place exactly. Something between, a smirk and irritation....? "Why are you here?" There were no signs of amusement on Graham's face anymore.
