There was, perhaps, nothing she hated more than having a human body. They were heavy, to begin with, and they hurt in a way that she had never understood before and burned in a way she could understand. The heart that thumped under her skin reminded her of a clock tick tick ticking until the end, which she honestly hoped was near on some days.

But a twenty-something year old body would not fail her so easily.

And she still had a place she needed to reach.

Oh, but the hunger. That had to be the worst thing a human body could feel. Days without eating left a pit in her stomach that made her feel like she was being eaten from the inside out.

But she had no time for that know. She was running.

"I found her!" A female voice called somewhere behind her and she ducked under a tree branch careful not to ignite the trees and leave an even more obvious trail. "This way!"

She cursed under her breath, trying to get as much out of her limp knee as possible. Even after years of living on this plane, she could never come to love it's many terrains. The knee was a gift from the forest, from when she'd tumbled over a branch a few days ago and twisted it. She'd repaid the debt by burning the pile of kindling to the ground.

She was brought back to her thoughts when an arrow sliced through her arm leaving the tingling feeling of pain.

Right. Running.

She continued on as fast as her feet could carry her.

Though she complained, she was much more used to the pain of a human body than she should've been. The bleeding from above her elbow, where her sleeve had been torn, was a reminder of a past all too close.

When another arrow zipped passed her, she ground her teeth and turned to face her assailants. If they truly would not give up on her then she had no choice but to fight them. Fine. The urge to fight had been burning under her skin for far too long.

"Have it your way, dogs," she barked under a laugh. "I'll turn you to ashes where you stand!"

Three that she could see - two archers and a swordswoman. Easy.

She reached for her heart and embraced it's light, letting it consume her. Flames of reds, oranges, and yellows danced around her - licking her skin as they encased her.

With a burst of power, she launched a ball of fire at the nearest archer, igniting his clothes and himself. He screamed, dropping to the ground, trying to stop the flames. He wouldn't be getting up anytime soon, at least.

The swordswoman lunged. She ducked under the sword and reached behind her. Flames flew from the fiery girls fingertips onto the back of the swordswoman. The white material ignited and the woman dropped, trying to rid herself of the flames.

She looked to the other archer who pointed his bow at her. His hands trembled with the very fear that empowered her.

"You should've known better than to come after me with just three humans," she growled, smiling to reveal almost too sharp teeth.

"It's a good thing they didn't."

She was too slow to turn. Her body hit the ground with a thud. An uncomfortably cool weight settled itself on her back, keeping her firmly pressed into the dirt, grass, and mud. She felt a burn that her body couldn't quite understand.

She growled at her new assailant. "A water magus."

She could feel the man smirk. "Ah, the kings water magus, to be exact."
