Brea sat on the hood of her car, sitting crossed legged with a Virginia Slim burn dangerously close to her slim fingers. she looked out at the empty parking lot around her, taking a drag of her nearly burnt out cigarette. letting the cherry brighten to a dusky orange before tossing it to the ground. Brea ungracefully slid off her beat up car and got in, she saw speckles of rain drop to her windshield as she started the old piece of shit.

as lazily coasted down the road she listened to the old radio crackle something familiar, she tapped the steering wheel as she mouthed the words.

"you so bad..and baby I want you so bad" Brea sang to herself as she pulled over in front of house.

                                                             *********

the house was dead silent as Kim sat on the edge of her bed, she anxiously chewed the inside of her mouth as she pulled on her tattered shoes. her phone buzzed wildly beside her. 'I should really turn it off of vibrator mode' she thought to herself with haste. looking at the screen she saw it was a text from Brandon.

'hey Kum, Brea didn't pick me up yet so you two are gonna have to pick me up, paws up!'

Kim felt her stomach drop, she didn't really know Brea. only being mutual friends didn't really help with never actually talking outside of Brandon. Kim crawled over her bed and peered out of her window, she saw a shitty black car parked by the curb. cue more anxious mouth biting. deciding just bite the bullet as she quietly opened the window and crawled out. standing on her tip toes to close the window.

both were mute as the car rolled down the road, occasionally asking for directions or the awkward icebreaker question. Kim could faintly hear the radio before Brea gasped.

"oh, I love this song!" Brea exclaimed, turning the volume up a couple notches.

Brea messily sang along and jokingly swerving the car, making Kim gasp, Brea laughed at Kim's I'm-about-to-piss-pants face and straightened the wheel. Kim looked out the window. smiling a little. maybe her and Brea were closer then she thought.
