In the wake of the day,as the sun rises , so does our story.

The big ones are calledGrounds, compared to the Soil, which is where they stomp and live, that's the crust of the planet. These long lived short neckturtle-like creatures live on a « superearth » where theycoexist with two other inteligent species. The Medians which areabout the standard human size but evolved from palmedcervids, and the last species are the Feluvians, which areflying aviar creatures, about the size ofan owl.

All these people evolvedsymbiotically and still coexist in the same societies.

Grounds live formillenia, reproduce extremelly rarelly, usually before they getoccupied, despite their fertile period lasting for most of theirlifetime. These beings think fast and have big powerful brains thatcan store such a long life. Despite this, because of their size, their words and actions take time to be formed. This is why Medianshave scribbles who dedicate hours or daysinterpreting their words.

This coexistance happenson the shell and all sides of the Grounds.Medians and Feluvians install themselves on the very top of therock-hard shell that has accidentedterrain, unique to each individual. They use the flatter and moreaccessible terrain to install the cummunal buildings and they developthe residences and businesses on vertical or specifically adaptedconstructions, which are anchored to the hardest parts of the shells.

Groundscan a tribe's nestand sometimes Grounds agree to stay together, with or without theagreement of the Council, which is a group of equal parts of elders, middle aged and youngs from all professions, status and species, theusual is to find the grouped by threes. TheTriumvirate is the group of elders that has more power of decision, made by an old Median, an old Feluvian and the oldest of theInterprets of Grounds. The Council is located at the left orright of the gigantic head, right by the ear canal and decisions mustbe agreeded on before actions are taken.

As Medians profit of theGrounds to live on them and avoid the Soil where thesetravel, so do Feluvians live by Medians. This nimble creatures havetheir own rulers, which are the members of the Council that representthem, but have everything else adapted for them along the samebuildings and services that Medians use.

The need for cooperationis a must because the planet has inmeselly big planes, valleys, seas, lakes and distances to run. So the best solution to avoid beingstumped on by a giant is to live on them. There are others that liveon the Soil, in towns or cities that are protected from the routesGrounds take or hanged on entire muntain walls. This cities have beengathering more and more Medians and Feluvian, some dedicating entiredistricts to one species or the other. There are those that don'tagree on cooperation and decide to segragate or separate the speciesinstead of aiming at a same goal.

There have been incidentsand disagreements that ended in deaths, but those were and arelocalized incidents that tend to be carried out by the sameindividuals and ideals in most cases.

Despite all, there stillis a diference in between the people that live on Grounds, calledNomads or Rootless by the city people. These, in turn are calledRoots or Fencers.

Our story begins with abirth. Feluvians and Medians are born under the name of a clan orfree, unrelated. Clans are kept alive through the birth ofindividuals in it or by the acceptance of free individuals. If noclan is refered to at birth, the individual being born is noone'spossesion, they belong to the city or Ground where they are born buthave no obligation with the fuctioning of any societal group.
