" Why, what the fuck happened?" Cova was screaming. I just hope her mom and brother didn't hear her.

"Ok so you know how Aaron has started with a new drug that I don't know about? Well he came over drunk and high last night and I don't think he remembers doing it, but he beat the shit out of me last night. But this happened." I lift up my shirt to reveal my black and purple stomach and rip cage, turning around I also showed her my back.

"Oh my god! He did that?? I am going to kill him. Does it hurt bad?"

"Only when I breathe, but I know what you are getting at and I am not showing them to your mom. I love Martha and I don't want her to know."

"Is anything broken?" I shrugged my shoulders not sure. "Ok well we need to have my mom check them out, what if you have a broken rib? It can kill you."

"Ok but I do all the talking." Cova nodded her head, as I lowered my shirt. We made our way back into the kitchen, where Martha was beginning to cook dinner and Brady was eating a bowl of cereal. "Mom, can we talk to you about something, it's important."

"What is it?" I look down and a tear is sliding down my face. I quickly brush it away.

"I have to go, before he knows." I go to grab my bag out of Cova's room.

"Wait you have to show her, you need help." Cova's mom is right behind her following me. Once we reach Cova's room I shut the door before anyone else can enter.

"What is it? Is there something wrong?" I look down at my feet as Cova answers her mom.

"Mom, you have to check out Ashley. There might be something wrong."

I take off my shirt with no warning, thankful that I had been wearing my bikini underneath. I take a sharp breathe as Martha stiffens "What is that? What happened? Was it your father? Did he do this?"

Another tear escapes as I build my strength to tell. "No, it was someone else." I look up to see an angered look on Martha's face. "Aaron did this. I have to go before he calls again."

My phone rang on the way up to Cova's room and there was only one guess as to who it was. I grabbed my bag and walked out to my car.

Martha was walking behind me with Cova close on her tail. "how long has this been happing?"

"Since the end of sophomore year." I didn't want to tell her the truth but I figured it was best.

"What's been happening since then?" Brady turned the corner.

"I have to go, I see you tomorrow Cova and I will see you soon Martha."

"See you honey, you sure you don't want to stay for dinner?" Martha was one of the sweetest people I ever knew.

"No, Aaron wants to take me out to dinner tonight." I give a small smile and hug Martha. Brady looks very confused on to what is going on. "I have to go before he calls. Bye."

I turn around and walk to my car. When I reach my car I start the engine, I saw Brady looking out the window at me.

Driving home, I had one hour before Aaron was supposed to be coming to pick me up.

When I was in the shower, my phone rang, it was Aaron. "Hey babe, you almost ready? Practice ended early and I was hoping that we could go to dinner earlier and catch a movie after."

"Well I am in the shower, so give me twenty minutes and I should be good to go. Okay?"

"Yeah that works. See you then." He hung up before I could say anything else.

I got dressed in a pair of blue skinny jeans, threw on my black hoodie, and put on my black and white adidas I texted him telling him I was ready.

Ten minutes later there was a knock on the front door, I grabbed my bag and my keys. When I opened the door it was Brady. "What are you doing here? Aaron will kill you and me if he sees you here."

"You left your water bottle at my house and Cova didn't feel like bring it, so I did." Just as Brady handed me my water bottle Aaron pulled up and honked his horn.

"Thank you, but I have to go." I put the water bottle on the front table and walked out the door and locked it.

"Do we have a problem here babe?" I turned around to see Aaron standing behind Brady.

"No, he just leaving. I left my water bottle at Cova's and he was just bring it back. Stupid me always forgetting things." Aaron glared between Brady and I.

"I thought you weren't supposed to be home, Williams."

"Well I didn't tell anyone." Aaron was glaring right at me, well Brady explained. "Nobody knew beside myself."

"We best be going, right babe?" I walked towards Aaron and he pulled my arm towards him and dragged me to the car. Aaron strapped me in, and then jogged to his said of the car, I looked out the window towards Brady.

As we drove away I could see Brady in the right mirror. "What the fuck was that? I thought I told you to stay far away from him and to call me."

"I tried to tell you, but you didn't answer." I lied to him, hoping he would believe it. "It's not my fault you didn't answer."

"My phone didn't ring, sorry. Next time text and call, so that way it will go through no matter what."

"Ok."
