It was just another normal drive to school. Nothing special. But it’s burned into my memory so well and came back to haunt me in nightmares for years to come.

We were all in the car Mum, Dad, Noah and me. So maybe it wasn’t perfectly normal because Dad was in the car too, he usually drove himself to work, but mum dropped him off at work often enough that it wasn’t un-normal.

We were just driving along like always.  Noah my 11 year old brother and I were in the back seats talking about a video game – namely Mincraft – I said something about how I was riding a pig and it just walked straight of a cliff. It wasn’t a particularly funny comment but Noah cracked up laughing, as was his habit to do at totally unfunny comments. He threw his head back laughing like the schoolboy he was. His blue eyes shone in the sunlight and his smile was so big, his laugh so joyful. I particularly noticed his laugh; dad often said Noah’s laugh was his favourite sound. Noah’s laugh was gorgous, nothing like mine, mine sounded like I was snorting or something. Noah looked at me with his beautifal eyes, still laughing.

Then, suddenly… BANG!!!  And my life was never the same.
