First friendships

ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕠𝕟𝕖: 𝔽𝕚𝕣𝕤𝕥 𝕗𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕡𝕤

Several months had passed since Okatsu and her family had arrived in a new era. Slowly they got used to this new way of life. Her mother found work in a bakery near their home and Tasuke and his sister were enrolled in two different schools because of their age difference.

She was enrolled in a women's school: Hanasakigawa Girl's Junior High. It was a fairly famous and renowned women's institution thanks to various awards in mainly female disciplines.

The uniform consisted of a white shirt, a bow with variable color but put on the collar, an indigo skirt and sometimes over the shirt you could wear a pale yellow vest or pink wool jackets. School shoes were white ballet flats with low heels and straps.

She had become accustomed to her new school life despite not making significant friends in her class. She seemed locked in her world and couldn't open up. She also had difficulty speaking modern Japanese, and for this reason some of her companions considered her strange. Despite his difficulties, which she resolved almost immediately by studying continuously.

One day a girl sat down next to her desk, it was quite strange since Okatsu had been isolated from the other companions.

She had long white hair, with black tips, and had eyes of two different colors. Her right eye was red while her left eye was purple. She seemed like a quiet girl.

"May I sit beside you, Shirogane-san?" she asked.

Okatsu was very surprised and at first was speechless but then nodded energetically.

The girl sat down next to her and the lessons began. Okatsu was very diligent and did not seem to distract herself easily while taking notes. She also seemed relaxed, taking her time to memorize all the notions. Even the other girl was not far behind.

When the bell rang to announce the recreation the unknown woman slightly tapped her finger on the shoulder of the other.

"Huh?"

Okatsu turned to the girl, listening to her.

"Would you like to have lunch together on the roof?" she proposed.

"Okay, all right, fine."

She got up and took her bentou. They both left the classroom to go to the roof. It was the area with more space throughout the school and there were many places on which to sit, even the flowerbeds full of colorful flowers decorated the terrace. The two girls sat on a bench.

"So Shirogane-san, may I know your name?"

"M-My name? My name is Okatsu. Yours?"

"You can call me Tsuky."

"Why did you sit next to me today?" asked Okatsu curious.

"Well, you always look very sad. I thought you were lonely and wanted a friend to talk to. Since no one came near you, I took the opportunity." she said smiling.

"I understand. I was pleased with your gesture. Thank you Nakamoto-san."

"Since we're friends now, I want to call each other by name, Okatsu-san."

"R-Right."

They spent a pleasant moment eating their lunch with smiles and laughter. After the lessons they decided to go home together. They lived in the same neighborhood, so they had a common road to cross.

"Have you decided which club to join?" asked Tsuky.

"I don't know, there aren't many interesting clubs." answered the other.

"Yeah. Many clubs are as boring as calligraphy, home economics or swimming. I wanted to join a football club but it's not there yet." she explained.

"You know...I was thinking..."

"Tell me Okatsu-san."

"Why don't we create a football club?" she asked.

"Do you think we can?"

"If we don't try, we'll never know."

Tsuky smiled and answered.

"Besides, we don't have much of a choice so let's just jump in."

"You are right."

The next day, a girl from the student council asked Okatsu to do a little task for her. She asked her to take some books back to the school library. The girl nodded and began to bring a stack of books into the library.

She had never seen a place so big and so full of books. There were not many people and it seemed a quiet and quiet place. She went to a desk where she saw a girl sitting looking at papers. The girl had blond hair with blue tips and light green eyes.

"E-Excuse me?" she tried to say.

The girl raised her head from the paper and looked at her.

"What can I do for you?"

"A student council girl asked me to bring some books and check if they were from the school library." she explained.

"I understand, let me see the books in question."

She placed the books on the desk that the other one checked one by one, they were many, old and dusty. When the check ended, the girl fixed her hair.

"Yes, they do belong to the library. What's your name? Are you new?"

"Yes, I'm a freshman. My name is Okatsu Shirogane."

"I understand. My name is Akemi Philothea. It's always nice to meet new students." she smiled.

"If you don't mind, Philothea-san. I'd go back to class."

"Sure. See you next time." said Akemi, waving to her.

Okatsu she left the library and then returned to the classroom where Tsuky was waiting for her to review for a math quiz.

A new and frenetic life had begun.
