Heavy rain drummed steadily, pattering against the cold, hard window pane, irking the inhabitant of the room which said window was attached to. This inhabitant, an eighteen year old, scrawny brunette with short and messy hair, tanned skin and leaf green eyes covered his pounding head with his pillow and groaned audibly, turning away from the window in an effort to somehow dull the noise of the outside world. Unfortunately, the rain was the least of the noise that would cause all of his morning's problems.
"Rian, for fucks sake. Are ya gettin' up or not?" The all too familiar, irritated tone of Rian's roommate, Collin echoed around the room, the sound effectively knocking around Rian's already sore skull and finally drawing the boy from broken sleep.
"Whyyy?" Rian whined, the act of sitting up causing the boy's head to spin. He leaned forward in bed, allowing his head to rest in the palms of his hands.
Collin appeared at the door, his tall figure practically looming over everything else but the door-frame itself. Collin was a year older than Rian, tall and skinny with short, messy bleach blonde hair. His eyes were clear and blue. He was wearing that ridiculous dinosaur shirt that Rian had told him to dump months ago, under a denim jacket and black skinny jeans.
Collin tossed a small box of aspirin onto Rian's bed with a sigh before walking over to kneel down in front of him, offering the hungover teen a glass of water. "Class starts in an hour so, could ya stop having a hangover for five minutes and get ready?"
"M'sorry," Rian slurred as he willed one of his hands to take the glass from Collin's grasp before downing both the pill along with a gulp of cold water. "Was with-"
"Ethan?" Collin cut him off with an irritated tone. "Yeah, I know. He dragged you back here smelling of shit at bloody two in the mornin'. You're not the type to get drunk, Rian. What the fuck happened with him last night that set you off like this?"
Ethan O'Connor, nineteen years of age and Rian's best friend since they were three and a half. Ethan was taller than Rian but shorter than Collin, well built with every feature such as his hands just seeming to be bigger than normal. He had short, black hair that was always buzzed at the sides. His eyes were an icy shade of blue and he was always, ALWAYS wearing a checkered shirt and jeans.
Rian stayed silent, as he stared into the glass. He knew why, his heart aching at the painful last memory he could muster. He had met up with Ethan in a bar, his heart pounding and knocking wildly against his chest only to have all the butterflies in his stomach shrivel up and die in his belly at the sight of his friend. Ethan's girlfriend, Emma had decided to join them.
Emma was the same age as Rian and somewhat small for her age. She was pretty and mixed race, her mother being Irish while her father is African American. She has curly black hair and beautiful brown eyes. She was super girly and fashionable much to Rian's jealousy. Rian could see why Ethan liked her. Rian just wished that he didn't or that they wouldn't resort to kissing almost animalistically in front of him.
That is exactly what had occurred last night. Things had gotten heated between Ethan and Emma and the internal pain that had caused Rian was enough to send the boy into the crowds of the bar to get away from the hurtful sight which then resulted in the teen getting heavily wasted in an attempt to quite literally, drown his sorrows.
"Well?" Collin asked suddenly, snapping Rian out of his thoughts.
Rian stayed silent a moment longer before shaking his head.
"Dunno," He finally mumbled.
Collin stared at him in disbelief before shaking his head, deciding that it was not worth fighting over. Said teen got to his feet, taking the glass away from Rian before walking towards the door. He stopped, turned back to look at Rian and said: "Listen, it's all cool if you don't wanna tell me. Just, if you ever need a hand...lemme know, yeah?"
